Well guys, I've just got back from the first screening at BAFTA in London and I have to say it was incredible!!! It was mostly the West End Chorus, soloists (Jon Robyns etc) and the creatives; Hugh Wooldridge (dir) David Firman (MD) who turned up today. It's so much better than I ever remembered it, perhaps because I actually get to watch it, rather than just stare at the orchestra's music or the back of people's heads!
Honestly, I've never really been a fan of the show, because I just didn't understand it. Either the story was not told well or for me, it wasn't cast well. But this time - spot on. I understood it and loved it.
It showed all the principles off very well! It just highlighted how easy
Adam's voice is. Very jealous.
And I have to say the us in the West End Chorus sounded amazing. Endgame, Merano (I get a couple of shots in the reprise
), Merchandisers etc etc are just a joy to listen to!
I am very jealous of you guys in America who get to watch it on TV on Wednesday on PBS and also have the release of the DVD/CDs this week. Us Brits have to wait until September for Warner to do a press release!
Let me know of your thoughts if you watch it on Wednesday!
