Post subject:  Q about Microphones - any sound operator/cast member here?

Hi everyone

I attended a performance in Basle last Saturday - great and solid show! :-)

Since I'm working on a dance performance in late November this year where I need to pick up one dancer's voice, I wonder whether someone in the forum could answer my questions (sound operator or cast member) - especially 'cause this dancer has to perform shirtless:

- where do the Cats performers carry their bodypacks - if it's not possible to hide them under the wig, near the neck under a fur collar or in a back pouch?
- what bodypacks are generally used in the production? They must be definitely very small...

Thanks for any input,

Thomas

Generally, they are on the front, right chest, hidden by the fluffies. Sometimes they can be in the small of the back, on the forearm under the warmer, and I've even seen it in Munkustrap's crotch once. Surprisingly, that worked. Wasn't noticeable from the audience.

On Broadway the mic packs were on the back of the actors, hidden by the tail.

From what I witnessed, the transmitter pack usually was worn in the small of the back as VTWC said - hidden by the tail. The microphone cord was then put up the spine and then under the wig. The pick-up was placed at the "Widow's Peak" - top central of the forehead.
