Nemi, we didn't have a whole bunch of people putting banners in their signatures (much less large ones) before now. There just seemed to be an over abundance of the larger banners this time. As Rumblepurr said, just a few pixels over is nothing to quibble about. As for the length, as long as it doesn't stretch the forum too much, then it should be fine, the reason for the limits in the length is to help make the banner smaller in kb's so that it doesn't slow down the loading of the forum page for those who have slower internet connections.

You are right, though. We didn't ask for a size limit this time (which is an unfortunate oversight because we usually do ask to limit the size of the banners). However, for those banners being made by anyone from this point on, it would be respectfully requested that they try to keep them within the limits of the size restrictions.

I will be adding the size restrictions into the rules of the Casting Lists next time, so everyone should know then. :)

From the "CATS Forum Guidelines and FAQ's" thread:

6) Size isn’t everything – there’s a size limit for pics in avatars – 80 pixels by 80 pixels. We also ask that, if you’re going to post lots of photos or include an image in your signature that these are kept small and used sparingly. There is a good reason for this – anything bigger means it takes people who are still on dial-up modems ages to open a thread

It doesn't mention specific sizes or number of pixels, but the concept looks clear IMO.

And I concider mine to be a small banner, based on my usage and knowledge of banners on other forums *points to a regular-sized banner that's used on an RPG*

I'm sorry I was snippy... I'm in an amazingly better mood today, and think I just needed to let off a whole bunch of steam. Those poor little actors had to put up with my frustration all day, and I think I've finally calmed down a bit.

I'll work on making a new banner for myself and Drumdraper (who may or may not be using the one I made him of the size as mine) eventually, and I appreciate your patience in this. I'll try not to drag my feet about it.

I really do respect the decisions of the mods-- really. Even though I may seem like a grumpy little girl about it sometime. I guess that's just the kitten coming out ;).

Smaller isn't better when you have a doll you want to show off .

Smaller is better for everyone else using the forum... banner restrictions are to make everyone else's lives easier! It's all about consideration.

Post subject:  Banner size.

100 pixils by 400 pixils is the accepted norm, but this fudges a little...

Magical_Mr_Mistoffelees_G ??? The way your banner appears? You should shrink the height about half and the width about a third.

Some picture applications can do this in precise pixil count - attempt to get the original banner in 100 ppi (pixils per inch)

Usually when you right click on an image and then click on "properties" the box will tell you how big that image is. :)
