Re: The trailer has dropped...
Dear Musicals.Net Posters,
I am reading a lot of online comments about the cats looking like "
nightmare fuel". I'm not so much
scared as I am
worried. To understand why
that is, you have to understand that "CATS" was the first stage musical with which I was
obsessed! I saw it at least
two years in a row live! I have loved the soundtrack from this musical since I was
very young! When I saw the 1998 movie version, I was
disappointed, as I thought that it was
too sexy and
suggestive, even given musical theatre's penchant for the
dramatic.
I hate to sound rude here, but when I watched the trailer, I had the following reactions:
Jennyanydots: "Wow!
That looks like
Amy Schumer /
Melissa McCarthy, except as a
naked cat!
ACK!"
Taylor Swift's Bombalurina....sprinkling Cat Nip: "Well,
that went way too modern and materialistic all of a sudden!"
Taylor Swift's Bombalurina wearing
shoes: "They wear
shoes?"
Oh, and about all of the
spoken dialogue that's not from the songs....I thought that this was supposed to be a musical that was in line with
song-to-song musicals like "Les Miserables" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat".
What the actual heck?
Oh, well. I guess that we'll either be
purring or
coughing up hairballs come
December.

The fact that I recently got an abandoned kitten is
le irony grande! Her coat is
literally "of the tabby kind, with tiger stripes and leopard spots," except that I like to think of her as a
Jellylorum! That name will
forever fascinate me!
Thanks in advance for your replies.
