Hey guys, the teaser for the upcoming Cats film just dropped. It looks... different.

I don't think I'll like it, but I will say seeing it has gotten me excited about Cats in general again in a way I haven't been in a while. Maybe I'm firing up to tell everyone why this film will be awful? Still, I'll reserve judgement. There are some things I can really get behind here - Ian McKellan as Gus? Hell yeah! Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy? Sign me up. But I'm a little perplexed by Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots, not to say anything of Taylor Swift as Bombalurina, of all characters.

I'm also having fun trying to make sense of some of the things shown in this first look. Are the cats... CGI? Idris Elba, as Macavity, has a song? Bombalurina and Macavity dancing together? I'm wondering if they're taking Demeter's part in Macavity away from her and giving it to Macavity himself? Did you guys notice any other interesting details from this?


Edit: I also see Ian McKellan told a commenter to "come back Friday" when they expressed disappointment about not actually seeing any cats in this, so I guess we'll see.
