Post The Movie
Has anyone seen the movie version? I just watched it, and it was terrible! It is just so wrong, so much cut out, random tap dancing where it doesn't belong. Arg. The fact that so many people only see the movie and think that's what Brigadoon is, makes me sad. I did not believe the love story between Fiona and Tommy, Meg was nothing but a bit part, and Jeff annoyed me. He wasn't witty or amusing at all. And Charlie and Jean had all of 5 minutes together. And the worst part was the set! It was obviously filmed on some soundstage, it looked nothing like Scotland. And what was with randomly changing the songs? There was a new verse in "Go Home With Bonnie Jean"; "Heather on the Hill" became a solo; and where was "Come to Me, Bend to Me"?! Overall, very disappointing.

Any thoughts?

Come to me, Bend to me. :x

Being Charlie in my production, I was very disappointed in the movie. Come to Me, Bend to Me is my favourite part of the show to do, and it wasn't even IN the movie. And it sounds really snotty of my to say so, but I don't think the movie version was even close to the stage version without Charlie. Like ShadowInTheWings said, he was hardly in it. And I still sound really sobby when I say it, but if it wasn't for Charlie, the story doesn't work. If he and Jean never got married, Harry would have never tried to leave Brigadoon, and not much else would work without that part.
There. I said it. I'm done, now.

Okay, that made me laugh. I love that song, it's so pretty. Your title is a very...interesting interpretation...

I totally agree, i couldnt even sit through the film. I played Fiona and i think the film ruins the magic of the story. And dont even get me started on the accents..............

The film is far from perfect..true..but Van Johnson's performance as Jeff has got to be one of the best in any film musical.

the man stole the film!

Only you would screw that up Sean lol.

But yes the movie is the most wretched thing in the world. I think my favorite part about it is the God awful Scottish accents.

I actually enjoyed the movie. I've never been in Brigadoon but I've seen both the stage version and although nothing can compare to the live version that I saw which was a amazing I still like the movie. I love the dancing in it. I do agree that there should have been things left in the movie that weren't in it but you can't have everything in a movie that you have a in stage show.
