I've just watched some bootleg of the opening number and it was sh*t. There is no dancing, nothing to bring the music alive, nothing! Just monkey people swinging.

If you listen the the OBC, you imagine there being dancing, flying, fun, during the opening number.

^Agreed.

Like, when Tarzan's parents are walking down the backdrop at a 90-degree angle... it looks SO bad (saw this on the disney site).

Well, that's why they cut it. :P

But look at the pictures of any given character in the air at any given time... it is so poorly covered.

Back to the opening, when they are walking at a 90 degree angle, the ropes are probably a good three inches in diameter. I realize that safety is obviously number one, and it's a very dangerous stunt, but if you're going to do something, make it look good. Otherwise, forget it.

This is what worries me about TLM. It has HUGE potential, but after Tarzan, I'm really, really worried.

Yeah, they could atleast make the safety ropes look morel ike vines.

Poor Disney Broadway, they will only be left with Lion King and Mary on Boradway and Lion King in London.

Oh yeah! That could be good, if they do it properly.

^The rope was CRAZY thick. VERY fake.

I agree with w_b, they should have at least made it look like a vine or something, because then it wouldn't look so out-of-place and really stupid.

I just heard from a lot of people it was really cheap-looking and stupid.

Disney can do so much better. I mean look at the set design, a blow up bouncy castle with rubber vines and a few fly rigs.

The whole point of the design was to see all the strings, as it were. It's supposed to be obvious and, therefore, "fake". It's not a great creative decision - and of course, Tarzan seems to be plagued by several bad creative decisions - but it isn't just because they couldn't make the wires thinner or because they couldn't make them look like vines.
