Zaneeta auditionIn a couple weeks, I'll be auditioning for a community theatre production of The Music Man, & I'm going for Zaneeta. For Zaneeta & Tommy, we have to read the first page of Scene 11 & do some cold readings.
So...what would be some good Zaneeta-ish things I could do during readings? I'm not the greatest dancer in the world, & there's quite a few other really good girls around the right age who will be auditioning for this part, so I'd really like to make myself stand out while reading lines.
Thanks for your help!

Well, I've never played this part before, but I love Zaneeta so maybe I can help.
I would say, if you REALLY want to stick out, make sure you have a good cutesy kind of character voice. Some productions don't have Zaneeta do one, so I guess just use your judgement on what you think the director would prefer--but I just think the voice adds so much... When I was in this show, our Zaneeta did a voice that struck the perfect balance between a cute little girl and a hint of something grating and obnoxious. But the audience loved her.
If you think the character voice would be a bad idea, I guess just try to be be really flirtatious with Tommy, like using good body language (touching his arm and whatnot), giggling when he says something that's supposed to be funny, etc. Oh, but she's still pretty young and kind of immature, so don't be too sexy with it, you know? Ugh I don't know if that even made sense; sorry. Anyways, I hope this helped, and good luck!

This may be too late, but I played Zaneeta about a year ago. Just be over-the-top flirtatious and make sure that "Ye Gads" is said with a lot of emphasis and don't just say it, laugh while you're doing it. Also, make it look like you're trying to seduce Tommy...hahaha it actually works and the audience loves it!!

zanetta auditionI am trying out for Zanetta. I need to prepare an up-tempo song and a ballad. I am not sure what to do. I really want this part. I am 17 and have had a lot of dance training. I am just worried about the singing. I have an alto-mezzo voice. Do you giys have any advice for song choices, for the up tempo and balld. Thank you!

^Just as a suggestion, you might want to post this question in the audition song thread, and hopefully someone nice will help you out. But I'm sure it's appreciated that you asked so nicely.
