It was right after Idina's first-ever vacation. It was supposed to be her first performance back, but she wasn't back in time and didn't make it til the evening show. I was completely disappointed - but Eden blew me away, she's just incredible.

No, I wasn't there. But it is definately Jye. I've seen videos. And I know lots of people who were there who said it was Jye too.
I know my London ensemble by name, voice, look, everything You can't really not know them all if you've seen the same ensemble 7 times, almost every time in front row

The both times I've seen Wicked, Shoshana Bean and Megan Hilty were the leads. They really were excellent, and had a great chemistry onstage.
|
What Is This Feeling?
|
Lol, Shoshana is the goofiest / most histarical Elphie. I think her performance is more human. The first act sh is so goofy and really very oral and facial. I adore her facial expressions. Although her change from act 1 to act to 2, really wasnt that different.
My fave Sho bean moment:
if I defrenify youuuuuuu
*turns around*
Sho: And ofcourse thats not important to me!
*Turns around*
Sho: Alright , why not?
*snorts*
Sho: I'll replyyyyyyyyyy oh wat a pair will be..
hhaaha full on snort. So beautiful and very human. Voice is great and isn't vocally allo over.
Hilty was a delight too.

We both got shirts that said I heart Oz on them! Then we went around to the side where the stage door was and Cliffton Hall (Fiyero) and his wife Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose) were signing autographs. We got their autographs and waited for a lillte bit and ended up getting Victoria Matlock's autograph! Christina walked by, but she didn't stop. I was so excited!

OMG! You are so Lucky! I saw the same cast but Coleen Sexton was Elphie....I wanted to see Matlock! Oh wells, next time! Isn't ironic that Clifton and his Wife have to fall in love with two different people in the play? I wondered what that must be like, playing in a show with your husband but you have to act like he doesn't exist....

SJB left the tour early because of a back injury she sustained while trying a new stunt with a harness. I believe they were trying out a thing for the entrance of No Good Deed where Elphie would "fly" in on the harness as a replacement for Broadway's trap-door entrance. However, on the last rehersal the harness broke and SJB injured back pretty badly. She stayed on for awhile but left so her injury could heal properly, I guess.

Oh boo. Helen is magic. |
She can't act and has a bad, annoying singing voice. She should be nowhere near the West End nevermind the original lead in a huge show.

Can I ask what you think of Dianne Pilkington? If you thought Helen's voice was annoying, Dianne's "Glinda voice" must make you apoplectic.

Dianne Pilkington is the best Glinda to date.

Stating your opinions as if they are fact...
You're like a Salome who likes Wicked, except less political.

Can anyone possibly imagine a Salome who likes Wicked?

Surely that signals the end of the world?

OrI am sure it woule signal somthing crazy like dogs and cats getting married or paula abdul managing not to look drugged up on an episode of AI.
My first and only time I went was when I surprised my little sister with 3rd row center tickets before she moved to alaska for a year..
Cast:
Kendra kassebaum
Victoria Matlock
Sebastian arcelus
Those are the main three I can think of.

Production: Broadway
City: New York City
Elphaba: Idina Menzel
Glinda: Kirsten Chenoweth
Other Cast: Full OBC
Date: I don't remember
Time: I don't remember
My mother drove my whole family and our next door neighbors (in the same car) out to see it. The trip there was hell, never again will I drive to New York City with my restless family and my neighbors. I remember very clearly that on the way there, I was listening to the Wicked recording and I was convinced that there was something going on between Glinda and Elphaba (romantic tension-wise). After we saw the show, my neighbor's mom got mad at me for whatever reason and made me take off my shoes and walk through the New York City Subway barefoot. I probably contracted all kinds of lovely diseases thanks to that. And thus concludes my one and only Wicked experience. -shrug-

Why did you have to take your shoes off?

Because I was rude to my neighbor's daughter and I guess she figured that was the best punishment. Haha, I don't know, but in any case it was a disgusting experience that I still think of to this day when I walk through New York's subway.

And your parent's let her make you walk around without any shoes????
That really doesn't make sense to me...

Our chaperones for the city were my mother and my neighbor's mother. So basically, while my mother was picking up my little sister from our uncle's house (she was too young to see Wicked), my neighbor's mother was taking us somewhere or other that required us going to the subway. Hence her making me take off my shoes and go barefoot.
:-&
'Twas gross.

I loved every minute, but was completely mesmerized by the amazing set so the singing didn't get as much attention as it should have until I bought the cd

I'm going to be honest here, the first time heard the Wicked cast recording, I hated it. I'd read and loved the novel, and I was expecting something dark and brooding (if a little all over the place thematically,) and by contrast, the musical seemed so light and happy and perky. It didn't fit the vision in my head, and I was disappointed.
It started to grow on me, though. For all its lack of technical sophistication, it gradually began appealing more and more to me once I accepted that it was different from the novel and let go of my preconceived ideas about what it should have been.
I was planning a trip to London to visit family, and one of my friends came along. When I'm there I usually see a couple of shows (may as well, right?) and since my friend is a big Wicked fan and I liked it by that point, we decided to go see it with my folks.
I wasn't expecting anything amazing, just a fun evening out. As we were getting ready, my friend asked me if I had any tissues with me. I kind of laughed at her and said, "It's Wicked. I'm not going to cry!"
I ended up eating my words on that, and in fact I really enjoyed the production. Somehow seeing it on stage I got sucked into the world of the show in a way I never had just listening to the music, and it held me spellbound (har har.) I have to admit that in spite of my assurance I wouldn't cry, I got misty-eyed twice: when Elphaba and Fiyero are reunited after her "death," and of all the weird places to get teary, the softer "No one mourns the wicked" after the "But because I knew you..." in the Finale. (My friend kindly provided me with a tissue and did not say "I told you so" a single time even though I deserved it.)
I absolutely loved this show-- I was actually surprised by how much I did, as I didn't expect to more than like it. I'd definitely see it again someday given the opportunity.
