What Is This Feeling?

Your top 5 Personal Favorite TV shows

List them, and briefly tell us why!

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer- Amazing! Such a wonderful show, beautiful writing.

2. Will and Grace- Funny and charming as hell.

3. Angel- Watch it, it is so great.

4. Heroes- I love the concept, My favorite arch-type show.

5. Friends- What more can be said about one of the best television casts of all time?

Oh and which of the shows I listed, do YOU think is the best/ your favorite.
Salome

Why did you create a poll of YOUR favorite shows for people to vote on?

none of those hsows are even remotely my favorites..except Will and Grace when it was actually on the air.
What Is This Feeling?

'Cause I'm a lame-ass. Sorry Dawn, I forgot Babylon 5 and The Waltons.
Salome

What I mean is...the topic should be 'My Favorite TV Shows" not "Your Favorite TV Shows" if you want people to just talk about your shows.

for the record..if we are talking favorites of all time I'd need to list 10.

1) Odd Couple
2)Babylon 5
3)Carnivale
4)Dallas
5)All in the Family
6)The Tudors
7)St. Elswhere
8)Third Rock from the Sun
9)Mad Men
10) The Riches
curlyhairedsoprano91

My top 5:

1. All in the Family (I always put this first, even though I never watch it ['cause it's never on, except very sporadically on TVLand] because it's just so amazing and historically significant)

2. FRASIER (currently my favorite show that I ever watch, hands down)

3. Scrubs

4. The Simpsons

5. The Cosby Show
Marcellus

1. That Was the Week That Was. Political and social satire with a score largely by Tom Lehrer. Think of Mark Russell with a cast of 20 (including David Frost) in the early 1960's. The best songs wound up on Lehrer's 1965 album That Was the Year That Was. Apparently no videotape survives, but a some audio does.

2. M.A.S.H. Ran for 11 years with no decline in quality.

3. The Bob Newhart Show. I recently got 48 episodes on DVD (Seasons 2 and 4) with Pepsi bottlecaps.

4. College Bowl. A panel contest (think Family Feud) between two colleges or universities on intelligence and knowledge (for a change).

5. Jeopardy. I like thinking up the answers (or questions).

!) Buffy- It's pure amazement, I'm getting a Buffy tattoo within the next year. The musical episode is awesome also!

2) Angel- It's possibly the greatest spin-off of any show ever.

3) Monk- That man can make me giggle so easily... The situations are also very clever and it's an intelligent show, regardless of the silly premise of it.

4) Dexter- He is creepy as hell but makes me pity him. It's got amazing acting and writing... and a Buffy/Angel alum is here too!

5) My Wife and Kids- I love watching reruns of this show. I never watched it before but I watch the reruns every day of my life. Jay (the mom) is hilarious and by far my favorite TV mother.
Annie

The Office

Popular (WHY did it have only 2 seasons?!?!)
Monk - the early ones with Bitty Schram Smile

Buffy and Angel ARE amazing. It is my favorite fantasty-type world. The universe that Joss Whedon created is magnificent. Buffy fans unite!

This is my alltime favorite list. in no particular order.

~ Scrubs ~ I really like the mix of comedy, drama, and music with this show. Let emphasize the music end. Somthig I find very unique.

~ Family guy ~ I was somwhat of a simpsons fan but for some reason the random humor in this show strikes a better chord with me. I really like there musical and random popculture references.

~ Home improvement ~ Yes I was a toolman fan. It might be a nastalgia thing. I was kid and watched ith my pop all the time. I still enjoy the show today. All though I admit its cheesy.

~ Saved by the bell ~ This was my favorite as a kid. Everyonce in a while I will watch some reruns.

~ Original Muppet show~ These were great. Again probably a kid thing but a fully enjoyable show.

Othere than that I really never watch tv.
mizzie

Lost
Freaks and Geeks
Frasier
Friends
Will and Grace
Third Rock From The Sun
Big Bang Theory (I think it's a really cute new show).
Quique

What a boring poll!!

Anyway, I used to hardly ever watch TV until early this year. The only shows I watch now are a mix of stupid reality shows when I'm bored or the news.

2) House
3) Bones
4) Ugly Betty

It's a decent sereis but the novels are much better (maybe it's because Is tarted the novels first and only started watching the show because they were based on the books...or maybe it just because several of the books are based in Quebec XD)

YES. Nobody even knows is, but I think it's so sweet! Like, it's not the "best show on tv" or anything, but it's so adorable and smart!
blackbird_fly

The Simpsons
Futurama

PBS when it has performances
Ugly Betty
Old school Sesame Street
So You Think You Can Dance

I hear that Britain has a reality show for musicals, so if I were British I'd watch that.
musictheatre00

1)Family Guy, it's hilarious, and I think it's one of the most cultured, smart shows on tv and just hides it really well.

2)The Office-I just got into the show but I think it is hysterical and well written.

3)MADtv and SNL-I'm including them together because these two skit shows just make me laugh when I need a real pickup.

4)Grey's Anatomy- my wholefamily watches it,which is kinda cool, and it's a lighter take on medical shows.

5)Don't Know Yet
mtgirl118

centerstage08

1. Scrubs
-greatest show ever made. I've seen almost every episode and most of them like at least 3 times
2. That 70's Show
-I used to watch the first season of it with my dad in like the 7th grade
3. Boy Meets World
-how can you not love Corey?
4. Family Guy
-the billion of pop culture references, plus all the musical references that when I watch the show with a group only I normally understand...
5. This terrible public access show with the angry man with a large mustache and suspenders who always seems to be ircked by other people political, social, and religious views. He often makes the lamest defenses of his own beliefs, like well because I was raised southern baptist I believe...or I went to a private school so...
-I love this because it reminds me that even people who are "smart" are still total idiots who just think they know everything
PappyCat

I'm listing mine in NO order, since I couldn't decide on an absolute favorite out of them:

Ugly Betty - It's SOOOO funny, I'm very attached to the characters. I love how it mocks soap operas by being really soap opera-like. Love it.

Grey's Anatomy - It's another one that I've attached myself firmly to characters. Christina and George are my favorite.

Lost - Very original plotlines, I can never tell where this is going to go!

Pushing Daisies - The humor is really great, it's not in-your-face funny, but subtle. It's a lovely show.

Ace of Cakes - I just really cake decorating.
EponineMNFF

Oh, I FORGOT about Ace of Cakes! I don't know where that goes in the list, but it's definitely up there! Good call, Pappy.

Duff is kind of my hero. I met him once and it was so awesome! xD

I SO agree. They went through a patch where the show just kinda went down in quality. It wasn't BAD, but it wasn't really good (like, season 2 of GA was amazing.)

Izzie and George hooking up was such a bad idea. Like, for the show, it was boring. And lame. And I want to see a male/female set of really close platonic friends who don't hook up!

It is getting better, though.

Oh, I don't like Meredith. At all.

Whose Line Is It, Anyway? (UK version)
Knight Rider
Night Court
Bart Camp (US and UK versions)
Video On Trial (MuchMusic show)
Fromage (insert year here) with Ed The Sock

oh goodness

no particular order:

So You Think You Can Dance?
America's Next Top Model
Sex and the City
Ugly Betty
Queer as Folk
Will and Grace
The Real World
Quique

The reality shows I watch are..

America's Next Top Model
Step It Up and Dance
Top Chef

As far as series, I watched Ugly Betty, but that's just cause my niece was in it. Wink

And a whole mess of docs...just saw one on the History channel about Peter "The Great."
PappyCat

Who was your niece?
Quique

She played one of the stuck-up girls in the "Zero Worship" episode of Ugly Betty.

That's her on the left...

And here she is on Ugly Betty...

(In the middle)

She auditioned for CSI a few months ago but didn't get it. Hope she scores a good one soon. OMG, I'm becoming a stage uncle, lol!!
star2ballie

I rarely get a chance to sit down and watch TV so when I do it's usually mind numbing [mod edit: don't swear, please]. Just my little disclaimer.

1) Gossip Girl
2) Project Runway/Top Chef (tie)
3) The Office
4) Sex & The City
5) Scrubs
Elphaba22

1) Gossip Girl
2) Greek
3) Top Chef
4) Shot at Love 2 with Tila Tequila
5) Step it Up and Dance (although now over)

And I just started watching the Legally Blonde show, Search for the Next Elle Woods, or whatever, and am thoroughly disappointed in most of the contestants, at least thus far. I'm not really sure how I feel about reality TV shows that cast Broadway leads anyways.
wicked_diva

I wish I had more time to watch Gossip Girl. I watched it (mostly online) when it first started, but I find it annoying to watch things on my computer, and after about 7 or 8 episodes, I just gave up. I was really liking the show, though, and I love the books, so it kind of made me sad.
PappyCat

I totally remember her, Quique! Very cute episode.
Mumsytype

I don't watch much TV. Too busy doing other, more interesting stuff.
However:
1. Have I Got News For You
2. Q.I.
3. Top Gear
4. Anything with Dawn French, Eddie Izzard, Robbie Coltrane, or Stephen Fry in it.
5. Time team/Restoration/architectural documentaries

I sometimes catch Extreme Makeover, which is moderately interesting in spite of all the highly over-emotive padding, and Overhaulin' is fun. But they're occasionals.
Salome

Do you watch Eddie Izzard on 'The Riches"?! thats great [mod edit: don't swear, please]!
Mumsytype

I tend to try and avoid anything resembling excrement.
