Your ideal LONDON cast of Wickedjust thought i'd ask everybody who their ideal London cast would be??
For me, it goes:
Elphaba:Kerry Ellis (no question)
Glinda: Dianne Pilkington (this woman is love!)
Fiyero:Oliver Thompsett
Madame Morrible: Harriet Thorpe/Nadine Cox
Nessarose: Caroline Keiff
Boq: James Gillan
The Wizard: Andy Mace
Dr Dillamond: Alos Andy Mace..(that'll be hard lol)
Shenshen+Pfanee: Nadine and Ashleigh, when those two aren't on the characters are boring.
Elphie standby(just for good measure): Ashleigh Gray!!!

I don't know how you can pick an ideal cast of anything when you didn't sit in on all the auditions, hence don't know who else might actualy be as or more suitable than those playing the roles?? Casting is (sadly) not always down to who is best for a part, many other factors play a part. Helen Dallimore for example was chosen as original London Elphaba but in my (humble) opinion, I knew at least 5 girls who could have outsung and outacted her in the part - but they didn't get chosen.

Including yourself by any chance?
Anyway, Helen was G(a)linda not Elphaba!

I knew this kind of retort would be posted for as soon as you criticise something, people think you are a tired, old, bitter actress that didn't get the part hence has to complain about it. In fact, it's called constructive criticism and having an educated opinion, that's how a creative process moves along and improves usually.
So no, I was not seen for that part and am not right for Glinda anyway (excuse my typo, Helen did of course play Glinda). And it has nothing to do with that, as professionals one is used to rejections, it's the name of the game. We get rejected all the time and one gets used to it, whether it's for Wicked or something else.
But my point was - you can't choose an ideal London cast if you don't know what's out there to choose from. You can only choose from whom you have seen....so I guess the topic would be called "ideal London cast from those that have actually been in the Wicked cast". Too many times people make the mistake of thinking "the best" is what they see in shows when "the best" can also be what is rejected and not given a job. Why? Because there are far too many actors for far too few jobs, so it's almost a given that you will be rejecting amazing performers on a daily audition basis.

castyeah, Helen was Glinda....just not a very good one in my opinion, Dianne blew her out of the water.
I think we're actually quite able to pick our own ideal casts because form the two posted here already, it is obvious that we've seen more than just the 'principals' play their roles, considering we have, in some cases, picked understudies instead of the people currently playing teh characters.
Just because you don't see the auditions, doesn't mean you can't chose your ideal cast just by watching teh show. I know that once you have watched the show more than once, you start to pay attention to the ensemble etc and what they do and also go to see the show when someone else is in the role.
Even though Nadine Cox is ensemble and i've never seen her as Madame Morrible, by what she does now, i KNOW she'd be excellent!! and well suited to the role, even before my friends told me how great she was at it.
so i don't agree with your point, saince i didnt sit at an audition and know who i prefer in which roles by watchign the show and paying attention. Although obviously your argument has valid points because, with some people you know, like some of the weaker singers could never play elphaba but we have no idea how Dianne Pilkington would cope being Glinda because she's never been given the opportunity.
And i agree about Helen.............lol ; D

hhnot trying to cause arguments, but the title obviously implies who you have seen, or you wouldn't know. And if you Really like someone in a role they ARE your ideal person to play it, it doesn't matter if you haven't seen everybody in the whole world! Because you like that performer by how they would perform and somebody else wouldn't be the same as them, therefore not your ideal person to play that role.
if we were here to have an argument about how many people out there who could be in Wicked, or want to, it would be in a seperate thread adn teh possibilities would be endless.
but if you're going to be picky.
New Title ' IDEAL LONDON CAST THAT YOU HAVE SEEN PLAY THE ROLES'
but that sounds ridiculous doesn't it.
i think generally everybody knows what you mean when you say 'ideal London Cast.' it's pretty simple.
not meaning to be arguing, just stating the purpose of this thread, so maybe it would be better to stay on topic?

Fair enough. I thought it was also about potential people you might have seen in something else that you could picture in Wicked. I guess I misunderstood, apologies.

All you have to do is look at both hers and Pilkington's respective standbys to see that.
