my first piece of advice to wow the directors: lose the attitude and have some confidence in yourself!! don't tell yourself you have a slim chance - tell yourself you've really got something to prove and that you WILL show those directors what theatre is all about!
once you've accomplished that, you're halfway there.
the thing to remember with lucy is bratty, bratty, bratty. i was just in this show and i remember it clearly - so talk like a brat. the brattiest, snottiest voice you can summon.
and lucy thinks she's the best thing ever to happen to the world. so that confidence i told you to have? multiply it by about 200, because lucy is the most concieted character ever created. she is the boss, she is everything, she is a queen (or plans to be, according to the scene 'queen lucy'.)
any of the following songs would be good:
'Shy' from Once Upon a Mattress
'Defying Gravity' from Wicked
'The Wizard and I' from Wicked
'Broadway Baby' from Follies
good luck, and just remember to relax, be yourself, and KNOW that you're going to be amazing!

yeah its not that i dont have confidence its just that my school has extreme seniority.
but how about i speak six languages from the spelling bee show?
or i know things now from into the woods?

i think either of those would be a pretty good choice. can the wicked, it's not the stuff auditions are made of, at least not for ten years or so. attitude is key to lucy. be as tough and snobby and outrageous as you can.

Shy, I speak six languages and I know things now are all good
i have used 2 out of the three for auditions and they seem to work well

ah, then definitely don't sing it again.
i've never heard 'i speak six different languages,' but in my opinion, 'i know things now' is hardly EVER a good audition piece.

"I Speak Six Languages" is a great audition piece for Lucy.
