yet another Hedy LaRue topicSo my highschool is doing H2$ this spring and auditions are in Dec so im just trying to get a nice head start here.
Basically I've read about all the parts and i thik Hedy LaRue would be my best choice but what do you think?
about 5' 3", blonde, look older than 14
Played: Cinderella, Cinderella's Stepsister, Snow White, Ada in Alice in Wonderland, various other roles (all in musicals) and i student directed the play this fall so im not a total unknown
Singing: Low Alto to High Soprano.. basically anything... strong singer but not with chest voice... not amazingly good but not too shabby. haha
Acting: more of an actress than a singer... can play most any role.. get put with dumb blondish/funny roles alot
i wanted a fun role so.. Hedy looked good but idk...
what do u guys think?
If so... what should i sing for Hedy?
I was thinking about "Thank Goodness" or "Popular" from Wicked....perhaps?
and if anyone knows of a great monologue or a great play to get monologues it will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

From your description, you sound good for Hedy.
As long as you're comfortable with being sexy and whatnot. And being so little, they'll probably have you in 3 inch heels.
Hedy really isn't supposed to be a strong singer, but your acting should be good and consistent with character. Most of her singing is meant to be comical and character voiced.
As for audition songs, I'd choose something with character voice, ala Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors, or Adelaide from Guys and Dolls.
Maybe even Val from A Chorus Line. There's a Val monologue that I think would work well, something about her heading to the city to be famous, i think it's the lead in for Dance Ten, Looks Three. The whole monologue is similar to Hedy's motivation throughout the play. Hell, even singing Dance Ten; Looks Three would be appropriate, I think. A little shocking for a highschool audition, but hey, depends on how daring you are. Because she is, basically, a bodacious, manipulating, gold digging mistress who just wants to climb the ladder and get her name known.
I wouldn't suggest singing anything from Wicked.
