they gave another song to Sophia loren?? she's a god awful singer.. look at Man of LaMancha.
| kozafluitmusique |
At least it's Yeston writing them...aaah I can't wait for this movie!
| Salome |
what does yeston writing the songs have to do with the fact that Sophia Loren is the worst singer to ever grace a film musical
| kozafluitmusique |
I can think of worse....but I really haven't heard many recordings of Sophia Loren sing. but the point is that it's not like it's a different composer writing the songs. |
||||||||
| Salome |
what have you heard worse than Loren's renditions of the Aldonza songs in LaMancha??
even Eastwood and Marvin in Paint Your Wagon werent as bad. |
||||||||
| kozafluitmusique |
People's voices change over time. Hers could have easily. I mean, I thought Fergie was a horrible singer until I heard her "Be Italian" in the preview, and it sounded decent.
| Salome |
oh please. | ||||||||
| kozafluitmusique |
It's opinion. Besides, didn't you say acting comes first? |
||||||||
| Salome |
of course acting comes first..but you cant be tone deaf or noit be able to hold a melody either. lol

That's what programs such as Pro Tools are for Dawn. That way they can cast just about anyone in a film musical but have the audio tracks tweaked to sound as good as possible. |
||||||||
| High-baritonne |
Those sounds aren't music, you can hear how it's automatically tuned. Auto tuning is awful! It's worse than synthesizing voices.
There is a difference in acting very good and still singing decent, and acting very good and singing horrible! |

That may be true...but that doesn't stop Hollywood from doing it. |
||||||||
| Salome |
they shouldnt do that to begin with. its dishonest. and i know they dont do it with everyone. Sophia loren is a prime example. ever hear her in LaMancha? |
||||||||

1) I never said it was honest. I hate it! If you can't cast properly then don't make the film. 2) I know Loren hasn't had it done. Pro Tools didn't exist then. And I don't think there's been any sort of digital remaster released where sort of work has been done to it. |

And how do you know Yeston didn't write the song specifically for Sophia's voice to highlight good things and make it easier?
Look at Send in the Clowns......written specifically for Glynis to highlight good things in her voice and it fit her perfectly. And just because she was bad in one movie musical doesn't mean she's horrible now....we've all had our bad performances..... Maybe someone should start pointing out your imperfect performances? |
||||||||
| Chevstriss |
possibly Loren COULDN'T sing the song originally meant for her character.
She IS the most famous Italian actress alive - it only makes sense to fit her into this movie. |
||||||||
| Brock07 |
Where was that for Pierce in mamma mia? lol |
||||||||
| High-baritonne |
Well, I think it is wrong to point out the imperfect performances of a person who doesn't act as a living, also a critique is rarely better than the criticised.
Also Dawn's acting isn't showed to the entire western world. I've never heard Sophia's perform, so I may like her, but Dawn's opinions are uttered with respect, sometimes they might come off as arrogant, but she does not attend to personal attacking and none-essential arguments. |

That may be a mystery of the universe never solved! |

This makes me slightly nervous. It reminds me of all the subpar songs that Strouse and Charnin wrote for the Annie movie. I do have a lot of trust for Rob Marshall, though.
| Disney-Bway27 |
I'm curious as to what songs they might/will replace because of these three new songs...hmm.
| Salome |
some new songs worked well.
Ah Still Suits me and I have the Room Above her from Showboat Loving You from Mame Mean Green Mother from Outer Space from Little Shop |
||||||||
| Brock07 |
I hated Mean Green Mother. They should have kept the original ending.
| Silverweed |
How is it dishonest? It worked for Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. Which is probably one of the best movies ever. |
||||||||

That was her?!?!?!??! *checks imdb* oh.. I didn't even realize she was playing Saraghina huh... I thought hers was a really good reindition of it |
||||||||

I don't know if you knew this, but they shot the original song and ending! However seeing as it was Hollywood film...when they tested it audience didn't like it. So they changed it. You can actually find the original ending on youtube.com. |
||||||||
| kozafluitmusique |
Yep - point proven Well, she could carry a tune in "Man of La Mancha". At least she was on pitch. |
||||||||
| Disney-Bway27 |
Loren really wasn't that good in MOLM. She could carry a tune but...ehh.
The article makes me think the song "Nine" will be taken out and replaced with the lullaby that Guido's mother sings him. And at least now Nine will get a Best Original Song nod at the Oscars. |
||||||||
| Brock07 |
I KNEW IT WAS FILMED BUT DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS ON YOUTUBE!!! *hurries off* OMG I HATE HOLLYWOOD. |
||||||||

Let me know what you think. It's rough footage but still very cool. |

Well I know that a new song called "Take it All" replaces "Be On Your Own". I know, I know...
New song "Cinema Italiano" written for Kate Hudson's expanded character. And yes I believe new song "Guarda la Luna" was written especially for Sophia Loren's minor singing ability. |

I loved it...I watched the one where the user added sound effects and background music. The only thing I didn't like was Don't Feed the Plants going on forever. and ever. and ever. With Audrey II's destroying the cities. That went on a little long. Way much better than the movie's real ending though. |
