WTF is Happening?!These trolls and fangirls are EVERYWHERE! Why are they picking on us?

Because that's what happens when Johnny Depp gets involved in anything these days.
I've really, really tried not to be a raving fangirl... but it's true! Even from what I've seen of other productions on Youtube I prefer JD. Maybe because I'm also a raving Burton fangirl... or I just like that darker, subtler stuff. I think my opinion might be different if I actually had a chance to see Sweeney Todd on stage - stage acting sometimes loses a lot of appeal when you're not actually in the audience.

Feeling a bit like this? I am just being amusing, I am not saying or suggesting anything.

Thanks, I feel better now.
Oh. and Flitterbug, it's good that you're trying things with Sweeney. It's fine that you like Johnyy best, it's just those annoying people who are like "OMG jONNHY'S THE BEST VOCALST omg!" Without even looking and one or two clips from the show and the trolls who pose as such fangirls who annoy the hell out of me. And it's been worse because trolls and fangirls have overridden the Wicked forum and Sweeney Todd was supposed to be my sanctuary from such treats, but alas, it was not meant to be. I just want a place where I can have intelligent coversation without annoying trolls and fangirls taking over.

Alas, that's what happens when something turns into a major motion picture, especially with Tim and Johnny. Not to mention half of the Death Eaters from Harry Potter.
I will have true Sweeney conversations with you all day long Mistress if you require it Mistress....either here, or via PM if you so desire.

Or... You could concentrate on teaching me stuff. I may not be the smartest cookie around, but I can come up with the ocassional intelligent remark. lol

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
I (and I think a lot of people) just hate it when people say they love Sweeney (because they love the movie) and don't know squat about the stage musical.
You're trying to get exposed to other Sweeney. Some, unfortunately, do and will not and will never have the great (at least in my opinion) exposure to the stage musical.

Sweeney's one of those musicals which I've always though I'll give that a try it looks good and never got round to it (Shame on me I know).
So I'm in HMV the other week browsing through the soundtracks like I do every time I go there and I see the cast recording of Sweeney Todd (I'll admit Johnny Depp on the cover helped ) and I fell in love.
Now I've seen the movie and I've moved onto the play. All I can afford now is to watch the stuff on youtube, but I'm going to buy the Cast recording as soon as possible. I don't know when if ever I'll get to chance to actually see it live so I'll just have to get along with the means I have.

oh, I love you guys ...I'm so happy that there are bleeders (movie fans) who are giving, or gave the original stage show a try.
And Brock07 I'll be sure to keeo you're offer in mind!
Daisy_babes, there is currently a touring production of the Sweeney Revival, so if you live ina ny of the locations it's coming, definitley buy tickets. I saw it in December and it was amazing!

I wish they would launch a tour of Sweeney as it should be instead of the Doyle production. ugh.

Why? I love the Doyle production. is aw it TO back in December and thought it was absolutely wonderful. Mind you, I know you disliked Cerveris and LuPone a great deal, so maybe if you saw it with Judy Kaye and David Hess instead, you'd have a an improved opnion of it.

Seconded...
I saw clips of the revival and didn't like it...but absolutly love the DVD and other clips I've seen of the normal Sweeney. If there was a Tour of the Original, I'd buy tickets in an instant.

Thirded. I thought the Doyle production was okay, but nothing compared to the original, and if people are suddenly getting interested in Sweeney, I think the original would attract them more.

In regard to the revival, even Hal Prince said that he didn't think audiences would understand the plot in the second act, unless they had seen the original production.

I find this whole topic/post kind of pretentious, to be honest.

I'm sorry, I guess it is, but it's just been getting really annoying lately.

I agree that it's annoying. It's great when people see musical movies, but when they see it once and suddenly think they know everything about the actual musical and think they're the biggest musical theatre buffs around...it's annoying. I found this particularly annoying when Rent came out.

Agreed. I became self conscious about this, because I didn't want people thinking I was a JD fangirl, and such....if that makes any sense.
