Worst audition you ever went to?Well, there's already a topic for the easiest audition you ever went to... So here's something different.
My story: I went to an audition this week and no one said if we needed a CD or sheet music or whatnot, so I ended up bringing a CD without any words. Then, they said they didn't allow CDs as accompaniments, so I had to sing Happy Birthday.
Who knows if I'll get in (I DOUBT IT!), but oh well...
What are your stories?

Man, that sucks. They could've at least let you sing your song a capella!
Best of luck!

Yes, I know! I was about to suggest it, but I didn't want to either annoy them or make a fool out of my self, so I just agreed.

Hands down, it was my experience where there was literally a toilet on stage...(only surrounded by two curtains off on stage right)and yes, someone used it! LOL!

My worst audition would have to be for the Sound of Music. I walked in and the director just stared at me. After a minute he was like "Well, start then!" It was so mortifying. That was my second audition ever and I thought they were supposed to talk to you and stuff. So I did my monolouge without a word from them, and sang my song. They didn't even say goodbye at the end. I was only 11 at the time, and I cried the whole way home. Needless to say I didn't get in.

Worst audition for me....I had gone straight from work and forgot to bring any throat lozenges or water with me. Because I was nervous my throat completely dried out! My song sounded horrrible....plus there were about 3 other girls singing the same song as I was!! I didn't have any other sheet music with me though. When I got into the room they said we could sing something acapella, but I didn't want to just pick some random song that I hadn't practiced so I just sang the one I had.
Well, needless to say that ever since then when I go to auditions I take at least one sometimes two water bottles with me, a whole pack of throat lozenges, and extra sheet music just in case someone else is singing my song!

None of my stories beat jazzy's with the toilet onstage and a man using it in sight of everyone. But I have a few irritating audition stories.
1) At my first opera audition I had allergies really bad and was blowing my nose every 2 seconds. So I took double the dosage of antihistamines one is supposed to take. Does anyone know what antihistamines do to you? Anyone? They dry you out like NUTS! I was cracking on g's. I didn't learn the dangers of antihistamines till after the audition, when a friend of mine fell on the floor laughing after I told him.
2) At an ITW audition a week ago, I had heard this one gal "C" was essentially precast as the witch. Against my better judgment, I decided to go ahead and audition for the witch anyway. Right before I go in, who do I hear singing the exact same 32 bars as me? C, the girl supposedly precast as the witch. Ugh. She was amazing. My rendition of the song was disgusting compared to hers.
That's it for now. I imagine things will get worse though.

Ha, this is easy since I've only had three auditions. My worst was by far the one for The Wizard of Oz -- I was trying out for a Munchkin, and I was currently in The Secret Garden. I decided to sing "Round Shouldered Man". So, I gave the music to the pianist. They couldn't play it. I was horrified because I didn't recognize the music, so I sang what I could. In the end, though, I got the part.

My worst audition was when i was about 10 years old. I went in and auditioned for The King and I. I had never been to an audition for a professional company before and had never had the pianist follow me. I kept slowing down trying to follow the piano and ended up singing only about 1/2 of my song before they told me i could go.

The worst audition I went to was for 'A Chorus Line' performed by the college I go to. We could sing anything we wanted to, so I decided to sing 'On My Own', after much consideration. Well, I was completely disorganized. I chose my song, THE NIGHT BEFORE the audition (but luckily I knew it by heart thanks to years of Les Mis obsessing), and ran through it once before the actual audition.
Needless to say I didn't get a main role and I now hate the show with every ounce of my being because I had nothing to do. I never want to do it again.
(Sorry if I sounded arrogant)

The worst audition i ever went to was last monday for Hello, Dolly! It oculdn't have been worse. My voice dried up and they wouldn't let me take my water into the audition room. Then i couldn't hit my high notes in my song. Then we had to do a dancing audition, they taught us 2 eight counts in 2 minutes and expected us to do it perfectly in front of them.
It was horrible. let's just say i didn't get in =(

I can laugh about this now, but I was really mad at the time. When I auditioned for the part of Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, I had a really bad cold. I was practically born to play that part, but I was sick! I had to cough so badly, but my song had already started, so I couldn't. I got that really disgusting phlegmy sound right in the middle of my piece, and you could hardly hear me.
The directors were semisympathetic. Auditions were for one day only, so I couldn't reschedule. But to give them credit, they didn't say anything about how badly I did.
In the end, my best friend got the part. I was so jealous! It was her first-ever musical, and she'd gotten the part that I was born to play! But now I don't care. I got the part of Yente (notice that it's a non-singing part!!!) and that was fun.

This isn't my WORST audition, but this just happened last night so I felt like sharing a tidbit of it. I forgot the words to my song for the first time in my life! I have never forgot the words in audition before and have never really understood how it could happen. But it totally did last night. The piano player stopped and told me the words and allowed me to start over, and I got the words he just gave me right, but screwed up everything after that! And the most frustrating part is that as soon as I blundered like that, the directors immediately went down, scribbling on their sheets, and had their faces in their papers scribbling and scribbling and didn't look at me for the rest of the song! When your song is only 16 bars long, they can miss you almost entirely if they start writing! So I remembered the last 2 lines to my song and was frustrated that they weren't looking! So I started singing louder! and louder and louder! But they never looked up. They just kept scribbling. I could have been picking my nose and they never would have seen it. Heartbreaking.
I would have been depressed as heck had the audition ended there. But they asked me to come back for the dance audition and I did really darn good there. I've never gone to an open dance call for a professional theater before and had no idea what to expect, but I really surprised myself. I whipped out some double pirouettes and leaps and weird Fosse moves and kept a good fun, entertaining face the whole time. YEAH!
