WorkFor many/most of us theater is just a hobby and not desired career choice. What do you want to/ do you do as a career.
I want to either be in the film business some how or teach at my current high school

I've considered acting professionally. I'm probably going to end up teaching theatre.

The job I have right now is probably about as good as run-of-the-mill retail work can be expected to get.
As a career, though, I'll probably go into information technology. Getting paid to be a geek? Yes please.

Oh and I've been wanting to tell you this for a long time. I just keep forgetting. It's spelled Kindergarten, not Kindergarden.
EDIT:
This is to theatrefan101 in reference to her signature.

I'm pursuing theatre. I'm getting a degree in the Applied Arts.
No, I don't think it's that easy. I'm just crazy like that. I mean, I honestly don't know anything to do with my life than perform.

I've always kind of had a feeling i'd end up being a theater teacher which honestly i would absolutely love. Even if i do that though i still hope i can act in shows regularly

At the moment, I work at Wendy's ..... *sigh*
However, I hope to go into the theatre professionally in either acting or writing/composing.
On that note, the script and lyrics for Barometer Rising are nearing completion. Muahahahahah!

Planning on going to med school and becoming a family practitioner. It was always kind of funny to see the looks on people's faces at my high school when they heard I wasn't majoring (or even minoring) in drama and/or music.

i know. I love how people think us "theater people" don't like any thing else. We have this kinda specialty week at my school, and one of them involves viewing plays. When the week was over every one was asking me, "which play was best?" and I was like "Uh, I did the film one" "Oh, film is kinda like theater isn't it" "this was more of film history and that was theater style, completely different" "Why didn't they let you do theater?" "I didn't put it on my list"

Musical Theatre, Theatre in general.
I know it's going to be really hard, but it's what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Something involving theatre of some sort. I'm double majoring in theatre and communications, which I also love, and it's such a vast area, so, yeaah we'll see. I'm hoping both those degrees with kind of help eachother out and combine nicely.

lol, i've stopped caring about my spelling years ago. meaning unless its for something formal then if you can understand what i meant, the spelling is good enough

I want to be in theatre.
I'm going to work my butt off to perform, but I'll do anything involved in theatre. I just want to stay in the business! I would be a director, costumer, critic, playwright, anything to stay!

This is the interwebs. Sloppy spelling and grammar is the rough equivalent of walking around without deodorant and with food stains on your shirt: it's not a capital offense, but it certainly gives off an impression.

I'm too old to start a "career" in musical theatre (let alone not enough talent! ). I'm an accountant (so I get the pity vote!) working in the office of a private school.

Acting is what I'm pursuing as my career.
I have other hobbies (mostly filmmaking/video production/broadcast and graphic art), but I'm not pursuing them.

Even though I'm working like hell to do professional theater, it doesn't and won't pay the rent.
I earn most of my income through social work. I've been a teacher too. I may go back to substitute teaching this fall after I come back from New York.
When I decide to settle and have a few babies, I've already planned to become a dental hygienist.

I actually think good spelling is quite important. I once stopped dating a guy because he had poor spelling. Maybe I'm like Henry Higgins, and don't want to see people start down the slippery slope to sloppy language. I yearn for the days of Shakespeare. When people actually took the time to make language pretty, and people took the time to LISTEN.

So weirdly random coincedence that involves me being a Facebook stalker -- you're going to the same school as one of my friends from high school did! She just played Charity in Sweet Charity there.

And for now, a cashier at Superstore.

I'd love to be a properties mistress. For film, tv, theatre. Anything.
I love performing, and it'll be something I always persue as a hobby. But I don't have the drive or disposition to try to do it professional. (I could handle the life of DOING it professionally, but I don't have to right disposition or attitude to deal with the years and years and years and years of rejection.) I love the entertainment environment, I'm happy to just be around it.

I want to be a music teacher, but keep doing things with theatre as well. I don't really know ... my life has had so many turns in high school, I don't really know. I mean, returning to theatre (I forgot how much I missed it), moving to Holland (and able to be in choir), etc.
All that I know is I wish it "clicked" with me that I could act (in my opinion, but I'm not sure ... I mean, at a master class I did, the instructor let my partner for the assignment and I go over and over again, but also a fair amount of people did, too) a bazillion years ago - I'd be a lot farther now. But whatever.
I also am having fun making props for the middle school musical, so if I have more experience with that, I'd love (as frustrating it can be) to be a props manager on Broadway or just try ... it never hurts just to try although I know I'll never make it there.
I'll just see what life takes me through. If all fails, I'll just go back to school, study to be a musicologist, and be one.
My parents respect and accept the fact I want to be a music teacher, except sometimes when I get frustrated, my dad says, "you should reconsider" but I refuse. I just ... can't. I love music and theatre too much when I do it that I can't imagine sitting in front of the computer at a job for several hours in a day, and I'd probably get distracted. I know for teaching it's similar, but at least you're teaching some of it.
