Wish me luck, all! It's official: I audition for Mattress on Sunday. This is my first musical I've ever auditioned for (not to mention I really want to be in it), so I'm very nervous. But, thank you all for answering my many questions regarding the show, and wish me luck!

Well, I did it. I sang my audition song pretty good but I still think I could've done better. They had me read for the Wizard; is that good? I totally f-ed up the dancing part. We had to do Spanish Panic, and I tried my best, but it was pretty unimpressive to say the least. Afterwards, I talked to the director and explained my concerns about how I did. I got the feeling he liked it okay and he told me not to worry. So, I should know in a week or two, but don't worry, I'll keep you posted.

Sounds like things went pretty well! The wizard is a fun part and doesn't do all that much dancing, so that might be the part you would like a lot!
Let us know when they cast!

My first rehearsal is tomorrow at 2:00! It took a long time to get the schedule out, but tomorrow it's finally going to happen; I'm so excited! As usual, I'll keep you posted; maybe tommorow I can find out out which Knight I am.

in general, this is not a great thing to do. basically, you did what you did and nothing you say to the director after your audition is going to change that. just an FYI...(i don't want to sound bitchy or anything, just giving a heads up!)
anyways, have fun!

I disagree. You could learn that maybe you have a nervous habit of pacing, or maybe you need to speak louder and clearer or even that you are a weak singer. Then you can work to improve that for your next audition. Obviously this won't change things for this show, but for the future.
