Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Jr? Help! ASAPSo a local children's theater group that I often do shows for is doing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Jr.I was wondering if anyone had the song list, or knew what Veruca and Violet's parts were like: i.e. do they sing solo songs? Acting part wise, are their parts fun, or more talking? Any info would help, ASAP! |

I think it is just dialogue, but the oompa loompas have chants.

The song list can be found on the Broadway Jr. website. I am producing this show this year at the school I teach at. The songs are GREAT, especially the new ones. Very campy and fun! The kids love it.

Wow. I'm about to be in Willy Wonka junior, too.
(I'm the girl who replied to your Fame thread... we seem to do a lot of similar shows, huh?) Violet and Veruca both have a song... Not sure of the acting though. |

It is xD
Wonka is bugging me though. I don't know what part I want to be. 'cause we're all older teenagers, and I'm one of the taller ones, so I don't think they'll put me as a kid, but I really don't want to be one of the parents. It should be an interesting show, whatever happens. |

My theatre group is probably going to do this next season in the fall of 08.
Anyone know a good way to do the "Fizzy Lifting Drink" flying scene without actually flying? I have an idea but would love others. Also how about the blowing up of Violet and Shell of Augustus? |

Saame here! Except, I don't think we're doing the Jr. version. But I really want Veruca or Violet! I'm thinking about going for Charlie's mom though since I am one of the taller ones and she still has a song! |

The Jr. Version is the only version available at this point

Question for you, Tyler:
How old are you, exactly? I read somewhere on here (I think Jaymie said it, but I'm not sure) that anyone acting in a Jr production/school series, they have to be under the age of 18. There were lots of special rules for them (stuff like what I just mentioned, and ALWAYS having to include 'Jr' on advertisements, etc). Just curious... I always thought you were an adult. 'Cause if you're not, maybe your theatre isn't following all of the rules of the Broadway Junior Series. I don't know though, obviously. I'm here, you're there. Just curious!

I'm going to be 22 on the 30th. I've only been in one Jr. and that was Annie and I was 15 at the time. My theatre group couldn't ever break the rules on it since the kids program that does the Jr.s only goes up through 16. 17 and older have to audition for any of our adult shows. Why did you think I might have been younger and/or acting in Jrs? I have been asking my questions cause my theatre group is going to do it next season and I was thinking of applying to direct it and had ideas for both things but just wanted some other ideas to play with. |

(assuming you're a girl...)
The biggest parent parts are Mrs. Gloop (the bigger, German one - Augustus' mom), Mrs. Bouregarde (the teacher - Violet's Mom), and Mrs. Bucket (Charlie's Mom, who I think has a whole song - "Cheer Up, Charlie" - I don't know if it's in this version or not, though). And I guess depending on how many older guys you have, Willy Wonka could be played by a girl, and even Grandpa Joe, maybe. But that's only if you're REALLY short on guys. |
