Will there be a return? Will Miss Saigon ever return to the Theatres? I heard Lea closed the last show in 2001, but then there was a 2005 tour. Do they redo the play every few years? There is a performance of Miss Saigon in Reading Pennsylvania next year, will that be too different than the tour? I'm sorry if these questions are a bit dumb, but I just fell for Miss Saigon and I need to see it, preferably not a HS one though, LoL.

Not the sameMy question was will it return? I know the tour is over, but I "heard" there was a tour in 2001, then it ended. And then a tour in 2005, then it ended. Will there be another? Also, I don't want to see a high school production. I'd prefer a professional cast. If it means I have to wait for the next tour, then so be it. I just want to know if it is normal to start up a tour again after a while. I also asked about the show in PA. It is a professional production, but is it worth seeing compared to a Tour? Wow, you live up to your name TVAW, LoL. PS-I don't mean it as a bad thing.

Why is "heard" in quotes? If you heard it, you'd know, unless you're like the guy in Memento.

It depends on the success of the show. Will Urinetown tour? Probably not, but that doesn't stop the regional productions. Will Little Women tour again? Same thing. Will Beauty and the Beast tour? It just had a mini tour and I doubt that'd be the last, even with the regional productions around the country.
The last Miss Saigon tour was non-Equity, so you can't compare this most recent tour to any other which was produced by Cameron Mackintosh, or anything produced by Lonely Equity Director in Podunk. Some think professional regionals can be better than Broadway. Some don't. Some think non-Equity tours are comparable to Equity tours. Some don't.
Asking if a regional production will be at all similar to a tour or to Broadway is traveling the roads of AppleOrangeville, especially when you're working with so many variables. It's impossible to answer for sure. Just go see it.

Ahh, Thank YouThat sheds some light on it, thanks. I will try to see the PA production then, since heck, it is across the country from me. But when the next tour swings around I'll be there too. Now I feel better. I was begining to think I missed out again, forever. I hate being this young, but hey it's got it's benifits, LoL.
PS-I put "heard" in quotes because I wasn't sure if my info was right. So I take it the 2001 closing was the end of the Equity tour since Lea came back to close it. Sorry if I'm keeping you up all night with my non-stop questions.

But like I said, you cannot guarantee there will be another tour of Miss Saigon. Give a regional production a chance. I completely understand avoiding a high school production, but if a regional theatre with a good reputation and a talent pool of actual merit (and Asians) is doing it, then I'd give it a shot.

Lea Salonga didn't close any tour -- she's performed the show in London, New York, and Manila, but not on tour. I don't remember when the Equity tour closed, but the non-Equity was running at least until last year. (See link in your other topic.)

If there is another non- regional professional Equity tour, I think I'll dance! And thank God, and party, and dance!!
