Did any of you have the use of wigs in your production of OUAM? Not just you personally, I mean in general. Our Aggravain had a Princess Leia-type wig, except the hair was curly instead of in buns. She only wore the wig in a couple of scenes; mostly she just wore a big goofy headdress. Our Princess #12 doubled as my Spanish Panic partner, so in order to tell the two roles apart, when she was #12 she wore a red, Ariel-looking wig.

I liked these wigs the best out of the ones in the show, because the actresses only wore them in a few scenes. However, our Larken (who really has short black hair) was in a long blond wig for the whole show, and even though our last performance was two months ago, I still can't get over that horrid wig! I could never get used to it; it made her look like Kira from "The Dark Crystal" and just totally detracted from the actress's natural beauty.

So, how about the rest of you? What characters in your production(s) wore wigs?

Actually, we didn't use any wigs. We have a couple, but none of them were used this year.

But Larken has naturally strawberry-blonde hair(emphasis on the strawberry though) and they asked her to dye her hair more blonde for the role. So, a week before show, she bought hair dye that would last until the show was over and then wash out easily and dyed. It didn't work. She tried like three times. Her hair was blonde dye resistant. She played the role with her natural hair in the end. Kinda funny though.

I don't remember anyone wearing a wig in either of mine except for my first Larken. She had a short, curly hairstyle, and wore a long, wavy auburn wig to look a little younger and more period-appropriate. It was gorgeous. Instead of having her hair under a cap for the first act opening (since it was a wig and the "hair tumbling down" effect would be awkward if it worked at all), she wore a big fake mustache that the Queen ripped off in order to recognise her. Same effect, different route.

Our Princess #12 wore a wig when she was the princess so that she could be a chorus member the rest of the show. I believe that was it.
