Wicked The Movie - Dream Cast

So if there was ever going to be a wicked the movie which there was originally gunna be but theatre makes more money.. Anyways heres my dream cast...

Elphaba - Summer Strallen (New actor but amazing) Google Her
Glinda - Amanda Schull
Fieyro - Emrhys Cooper (New Actor)
Wizard - Alan Dale
Madame Morible - Meryl Streep
Nessa - Emmy Rossum
Boq - Glen Hansard
Chisery - Alan Cumming

They all preety much fit the description post diffrent casts that you might think are good =D
perkypossum

i think glinda should be played by Amanda Seyfried (she played Sophie in Mamma Mia! the movie)
thegirlfromack

I dissagree that Glinda should be played by Amanda Seyfried... I don't think she has the right acting style for Glinda
rcs

I think Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth should come back and reprise their stage roles.
littlemisstheatregirl

I love Wicked, but I think a film would ruin it.

So two 40-somethings are gonna' play college kids?
JIJane

Summer Strallen doesn't have the required vocal range for Elphaba. She struggled with the top notes in Show Off when I saw her in Drowsy. Her main strength is dance.
dolbinau

Elphaba - Meryl Streep

Glinda - Britney Spears

Fieyro - Pierce Brosnan

Wizard - George Hearn

Boq - Christopher Lee

Britney? And Meryl Streep is waaaaay too old.
Belle

Summer Strallen's been performing professionally for 7 years... she's genetically engineered to be a performer! She's Bonnie Langford's niece, both her parents were in Cats in its first years, Summer was in Cats just before it closed in London, went on as the kitten "Etcetera" a lot, played both "Etcetera" and "Jemima" in one show!

Summer's older sister, Scarlett, it actually a stronger actress, Summer's a stronger dancer. Summer ROCKED the London production of The Drowsy Chaperone! I can't see her as Elphaba tho. Scarlett, yeah, she's got the dramatic strength of character to play Elphaba. Summer would make a delightful Glinda, but I've not heard her sing that sort of range... It'd be most amusing to have the two leads played by sisters!
JIJane

Indeed, the Strallen sisters (all 4 of them, they have two younger teenage sisters, one is currently in The Music Man with Scarlett in Chichester) have a strong family performing arts background and are very talented girls. I think Scarlett would make a great Glinda, can't see her as Elphaba. Summer is not a soprano, hence would not be suitable for the part of Glinda as it is written.
Belle

Well, let's just say this dream movie needs *A* Strallen, in one of the lead roles!

About half the cast of the Rent film were in their 30's when they did the movie. And in their defense, Cheno's 39 and Idina's 37. :-/

I really like the idea of making a Wicked film with the original Broadway cast, personally. If they could make it work, that is.
Salome

Cheno overacts on stage..she is worse on screen.

I agree, Kristen Chenowith is not a good film actress.

I also agree that Wicked would not be a good movie. The premise is boring, the book (script book) is also not very interesting... the only thing the show really has going for it is the music (which, in my opinion, is very repetitive and gets tired)
cellistbr

What?!? The music is AMAZING Razz
Monsieur D'Arque

Wicked can be played shallow or deep. It's always been played shallow, and the script doesn't give that much subtext. But if Glinda is made to seem just a little more needy in terms of the attention she's given, and not just a bubbly airhead, the character becomes a little more real, for one example.

You smart little cookie, you! Laughing
TJaames

The writer didn't confirm if it would be a musical, did he?
If it is just after the book, then Glinda isn't really a big role at all.
But I don't want to see Idina or Kristin as the lead roles, I think it would be more then fair to open up auditions to all past cast members, as well as maybe the public?
jarrod001

It's going to be a musical.
"Our goal now is absolutely to make the Wicked film, but much like Judy Craymer wouldn't give up screen rights to Mamma Mia! until the stage show had reached its pinnacle"

The Mamma Mia pinnacle was 5 years.
Wicked will be 5 in October.

Therefore it's referring to the musical.

one of the worst scores in the past 40 years. ugh.
wicked_boy

I beg them not to cast the likes of Britney Spears, LiLo etc in the film.
Salome

wicked_boy wrote:

actually that would be great because finally the talent in wicked would match the quality of the music, lyrics and script.
wicked_boy

Mabye you should get the lead then!

*Ouch*. Wink
Salome

Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
wicked_boy

Sorry.
fjays

AHH!
not cheno!
shes awful!!
and plus her and idina are wayyy to old.

how about the australian cast. they were brilliant Very Happy

i think wicked could actually work in a movie..
sportsla

Kristin might play Glinda again...

Hey,

So I found this little article about how Kristin might play Glinda in the movie adaptation of Wicked...

http://www.hollywood.com/news/Wicked_Movie_Kristin_Chenoweth_Glinda/5276420

Tom
jarrod001

LOL about her playing Morrible.
What Is This Feeling?

Elpheba- Salome( because she wants it)
Glinda- Kristen Chenoweth
Wizard- Joel Grey
Fiyero- Aaron Eckhart
Boq-New talent
Nessarose-New talent
Madame Morrible- Megan Mullally (she'd be awesome)
lottielou22

I think that the Wizard should be Bill Cosby. (I think someone brought that up in a "perfect cast" thread a while back and he really stuck with me... I love that guy!!)
Or Christopher Walken, as many have suggested in previous threads.
Or Eric Idle!!! (these are all the same people that I suggested for The Narrator or The Mysterious Man in Into the Woods--it just seems like it would work.)
ConorRu

I did actually read in a magazine that "after the sucess of the Mamma Mia movie it has been rhumored that a movie will be made out of Wicked The Musical"

but personally i think nothing could beat the magic of going to see it in the theater with its amazing sets.

You wont be able to put a dragon with smoke coming out its mouth in every cinema.

=D
wicked_boy

^ That would be an amazing press stunt if the premiere cinema actually did have a dragon obove the screen, or even outside of the building.
Elphaba-the-wicked

well not that i think it's a good idea, but if they made a movie i'd like...(yes these are all former or current cast of London)
Elphaba: Idina/Alexia Khadime (cant deside)
G(a)linda: Helen Dallimore
Fiyero: Oliver Tompsett
Boq: JAMES GILLAN
Nessa: Katie Rowley-Jones
Wizard: Nigel Planner (just coz the man is soo damn funny)
Madame Morrible:(hmm.... i love Mirium but) Herriet Thorppe
mastachen

Glinda: Kristen Bell
Elphaba: Lea Salonga
Wizard: Chris Walken or Anthony Stewart Head
Morrible: Kathy Bates
audreydarling

grrr....I wanted to be elphaba. oh well..I guess I could still play the role on stage. that's more impressive anyway!!!

hmm so you may think my casting is strange but i'm going to try

saying that we are not using OBC (Cheno may be galinda but I doubt Idina would do Elphie..I recall she said she was not returning to the role after her time in London)

Elphaba- Tracy Tohmas or Autumn from Legally Blonde (I'd love Catherine Zeta Jones to play the part but I don't know if her voice quality is the same).

Glinda - hard to find that classical voice - maybe the woman who played Johanna in sweeny or and unknown or even the woman who played Meg Giry.

Fiyero - Adam Pascal

Mme. Morrible - Michelle Pfeiffer or Patti Lupone

The Wizard - I'd love to see joel grey in this role..maybe Richard Gere

Nessarose- Christy Carleson Romano

Boq- Zac Efron

I THINK ZAC EFRON WOULD MAKE A CUTE BOQ AND IF I COULD I WOULD PLAY ELPHABA XD

Wicked.....
as a movie?

I'm praying to all the saints that THAT never happens Shocked
That shows hyped up enough as it is.
At least if it cast the likes of Britney Spears I could regard it as a comedy and get excited to go see it, to laugh at it if not anything else.

It will happen.

They confirmed it.
audreydarling

would they have auditions for it?......i'd love to get and agent and have a shot at something if they open up the casting.
acc921

Ughhhh noooo pleasseeeeee.
Don't get me wrong. I saw Wicked, I enjoyed it. I never downloaded the album or anything, but I didn't think it was awful.

But the last thing the world needs is more teenyboppers running around singing Defying Gravity (badly) and more HSM crap.

NPH as Fiyero.

This.
Monsieur D'Arque

Make him Boq. He's not quite "rock" enough to be Fiyero, but nobody plays awkward sweetness like him. Besides, I'm pushing for a black Fiyero.
aworthyboyishe

Just out of curiousity.. do you think they might stick more with the book than the musical? Because if they do... that brings a whole new set of characters into play...

Elphie - Idina Menzel... shes simply too iconic in this role for anyone else to successfully play it.

Galinda - Vanessa Williams.. i know.. shes too old.. but that can be changed... and besides.. shes always stuck in my head as good for this role.

Wizard - Richard Gere (sp?)

Madame Morrible - Merryl Streep - no questions asked

Fiyero - Dominic Cooper

Boq - Elijah Kelley

Nessarose - Ashley Spencer

Doctor Dillamond : Joel Grey... i think this would be a wonderful to incorporate him into the cast.

Chistery - Allan Cumming

Why? Because of her wonderful performance in Into the Woods? o.o

I think black Glindas would work even less on film than it would on stage.

Anthony Head for Dr. Dillamond!

Personally.. i liked that!
I thought she did well..
I mean... shes not Bernadette...
but i liked her interpretation.
WickedFan94

Kerry Ellis as Elphie, she's amazing. Carmen would be my second choice.
G(a)linda, that's hard. Megan, Kristen, or Dianne.
Norbert as Fiyero.
Dee-Dee Magno Hall as Nessarose.
Cher or Meryl as Madame Morrible.

Not sure about the other roles.

There's an idea! I'm sure he'd take it too. His two-second role in Sweeney was almost belittling to his presence and talent. Mastachen, you always come up with great ideas!
xXAngelofMusicXx

I second Antony head in the role, he's a brilliant actor Very Happy

Oooh just had a thought - can't you see the casting people sitting in a room saying "We need a famous leading man for Fiyero", "I know - John Barrowman!"

I do like John but I really couldn't imagine him playing Fiyero... Shocked

Billy Boyd as Boq? Simply going on the song he sang in LOTR:Return of the King, seems sweet enough Smile
ilovebway

Jenna Leigh Green could reprise her role as Nessarose. She has done TV and film already and was amazing in the role.

Yeh, I saw Jenna my second visit at Wicked. She was just as good as Michelle Federer. I really liked her. When I was reading the novel, I was picturing her as Nessa almost the entire time. Except without arms! Plus, I enjoyed her as Libby on Sabrina too.
Belle

Would you choose the Animals to be actors in prosthetics, or CGI?

I think I'd want CGI, because it needs to be clear that the speaking Animals are just normal animals who know how to speak.

Agreed.

But I would like high quality CGI, not some reallyyyyy tacky stuff.
aworthyboyishe

What about Chistery?

I mean.. for him to fly.. yeah. Def a CGI moment.
But when hes on the ground.. it always seemed a more human element.
Couldn't that be prostetics? (sp?)
