Wicked in StuttgartWell, I'm here in Stuttgart over the weekend so I decided to see the show. What the heck - there was nothing else to do. I had a really good time. I got a good seat at the last minute, and I found it interesting to watch a high quality production done in a language that you hardly understand. I've seen the show already and have the CD, so I don't need to understand he dialog in orde4r to follow the storyline or understand the songs.
What I found was very interesting. I focussed much more on other aspects of the show, the acting (exclusive of the dialog), the vocal performances, the staging, the orchestra, etc. It was kind of like going to see an opera done in a non-native language. I actually had a really good time - as much as you can when you go to a show alone. Has anyone else tried something like this with a mainstream musical - opera doesn't count.

I hate you.
I wanna see it!
Willemijn is AMAZING

What are you doing all the way in Stuttgart? lol.
I've never seen a show in a different language, but would absolutely love that! I almost saw Les Mis in Mexico City when it was there, but I understand Spanish so I guess that doesn't really count.

You can stop hating me now. Willemijn was on break the night I saw it, as was the Wizard, Morrible, and Fiyero. The show was good ayway, but the leads were not as good as Eden Espinosa and Megan Hilty who I saw in LA. The wizard was also meh.
BTW Quique, I'm travelling on business.
If you want to start hating me again jarrod, I'm going to take the family to see Idina Menzel in concert at a nice small venue next week.

Were the orchestrations the same as they were on Broadway (as in the cast album)

The orchestrations were the same, but some of the blocking and choreography was different - especially at the end.

Ooooh!
What was different about it?

Elphaba and Fiyero were prominently downstage, right out front after he opens the trap door. The rest of the chorus is around them, but doesn't pay attention to them. Elphie just sang her part of the finale out there with everyone else. It didn't work for me.
