Hi! I know I'm knew but I love wicked. My personal favorite is Kristy Cates as Elphaba. I was thinking how i would love a video of wicked to relive it. Maybe we could all write a petition to have a video released, hopefully with kristy Cates in the lead. This is just an idea but I think we could pull it off. Please write more ideas and ways to form a petition.

I have no problem with that but very few video tapes of performances in general are available. They are going to milk Wicked for all its worth before considering a video of a stage performance but I think a film is more likely. Might have to look for the illegal tapings instead.

My friend saw the entire show on a dvd that her friend bought at the performance. It was a professional recording too. I was surprised that they actually sold them but maybe it was just for that performance...

Okay, here's my insight on a Wicked movie/DVD being released...some of these thoughts have been stated by others, but I have more to add.

1. Trust me, there will not be a DVD release until years from now. Think about Cats (released 1997), Rent (2005), and The Phantom of the Opera (2004)

2. Depending on whether you care who is in the cast, the majority of your favorite Elphies and Glindas will be too old by then (i.e. Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Shoshana Bean, Julia Murney).

3. Knowing the film industry today, there might be an actual movie made (as opposed to a "recorded performance" feel). Also, the film company may cast big names in the principle roles. I don't know how anyone feels about this, but I don't ever want to see that happen to Wicked.

4. Fans are often disappointed with the DVD/movie releases.

I myself am personally glad there is no DVD. I would rather have it this way (going to see Wicked live two seasons from now during the 2008-2009 season of the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines) than see it butchered so soon.

Just an opinion. Run with it.
