"Why Should I Change A Thing?"
It's a solo for Warbucks, which is generally cut from most productions. We kept it in ours, and it made a wonderful moment to showcase our Warbucks' gorgeous baritone voice.
I agree, well sung, this is a beautiful number.

not cut from productions"Why Should I Change a Thing" was not originally in the show, it wasn't even written until 2000. Martin Charnin wrote it for Anthony Warlow who was playing Warbucks in the Australian tour - he was impressed by Warlow's interpretation and also that he is a singer (unlike many previous Warbucks) and wrote this song with Warlow in mind.

I think haf of it is because it's the only song in the show i havent heard 30 times, and also the man playing warbucks in my show is my drama teacher and i've never seen him do anthing and im so proud of him!

I feel bad for posting this now, but I always thought that song was the most boring piece in the musical. During practices and performances, I always wished something crazy interesting would suddenly happen, like Warbucks somersaulting into the orchestra pit.
No offense meant at all, Laura!

It's very much an unimportant "charm piece," a fluff Soliloquy. Comparable to "What Do I Need With Love" from Millie, the piece develops a character that's already well-enough developed, but gives a supposed lead a chance to sing more.

Although being unimportant does NOT mean the piece isn't good sounding.
