The best is on the Bach one when he comes in and someone in the audience screams.

That is just awesome. Laughing

Why is Ted Neeley Awesome?

Well, I HATE to use that word - it sounds so "valley girl". I was once quoted saying Ted's hugs are awesome. They are - but what I had really said was that they're like squeezing the juice out of an orange.

But - for the title of this post:

Ted is "awesome" to me because he is a wonderful human being. He never dismisses a fan - or anyone who comes back to say hello, he's sweet, he's funny, and talented as HELL - and has a voice that has beautifully weathered the passage of time.

Onstage, Ted doesn't "play" a role, he "inhabits" it. And even though he's much older than Jesus was when this was going on, he's believable, because the personna is there.

But mostly to me, Ted is "awesome", because he's a great friend.

I know he's a really nice person and a caring indivdual. There are a lot of Carter fans here, and a good bunch of them think that Mr.Neely can't act or sing. I was proving a point that he's an amazing actor and singer.

I can't wait for the Farewell Tour. I really want to see him perform live.

P.S. Pardon the word 'awesome', its not a word I commonly use.

I think the thing about Neely is, just like any great piece of art, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

He's not a perfect singer. He's not a perfect actor. But all those add up, and make him human, and make him...well...

Jesus.

Neeley has that classical Jesus "look" to him. He looks just like the pictures of Christ we all saw as young children.

Says Neeley in an interview I have on DVD, "It was skin graft that happened many, many years ago. (laughs)"

He also has muscles that I doidn't know any human had (watch Gethsemane in the film. Focus on his neck when he screams.) Shocked

Andy.
