Why do i like Sweeney Todd? It is full of gory revenge and cannibalism. i hate Mrs. Lovett because she is a selfish liar. Toby because he killed Todd. Judge Turpin because he's selfish and evil. Beadle Bamford because he follows Judge Turpin. Anthony because i blame him for part of Todd being evil, (Epiphany.) Lucy because she got Benjamin and poisoned herself. Johanna because she's stupid like Lucy. And Sweeney because he's evil... the only character i do like is my Benny who is Sweeney, who i hate. and saying i like him makes me as bad a Lovett, who i hate... Why do i like Sweeney Todd?

No, Lovett is NOT a selfish liar. She is a lover. She loves Benjamin Barker/Sweeney Todd and will do ANYthing to get his love--even if that requires helping Judge Turpin get rid of Lucy, lying, baking crappy pies, and killing people. "Half the fun is to plan the plan" She is one of Sondheim's strongest characters (like the Baker's Wife) because she will not let anything get in the way of what she wants. The only thing that she can't avoid is time and she's willing to wait, for "all good things come to those who wait".
