I'm as patriotic as they come, but the Star Spangled Banner is still a song that is not a good choice for a national anthem. It's difficult to sing well, especially for groups, it doesn't have a chorus, and the words are difficult. I'd rather see "God Bless America" or "My Country Tis of Thee". That being said, I still stand, hand over heart, and SING, whenever it is presented. But it's interesting how many more people sing "Oh Canada." (Based on the experience of living my whole life minutes away from Canada.) |
