He is VERY good. I saw him when Bebe was still in the show in April-he was great because of the fact that he made you feel bad for him, but he still got all the laughs in places most Amoses just gloss over. I think that's a pretty hard thing to accomplish with that character. |

Rob is a WONDERFUL Amos. Far and away, my absolute FAVORITE. | ||||||

It's hard to imagine anyone being more perfect than PJ Benjamin. My partner and I are attending tomorrow. I shall give a full report.

P.J. was once grand. Then he became a boring imitation of his former self. |

P.J. was very boring when I saw him... Idk what you all think of Ron Orbach, but I really liked his performance |

well, i've seen Kevin Caloran live and on bootleg and he is thus far my favourite Amos - LOVED his Cellophane.
i would, however, really like to get hold of the boot with Ernie Sabella. i think he'd be a great Amos. saw the boot with Joel Grey and didnt care for him much... |

Ernie Sabella....yuck, he wasn't Mr.Cellophane, he was more like Mr Piglet Man....
i tend to doze off and take a nap during the Amos parts of the show, granted when I saw Jeff Shade as Amos that was another story...while he was great in the role it was never believable that Roxie would cheat on that hot piece of manmeat. |

well, i just figured he could play off the nerdy/meekness of the role pretty well... ::shrugs:: hm... |

Do you ALWAYS need to mention bootlegs in your posts? They exist, most of us like them, we don't need to talk about them. 'nuf said. And I thought Rob Bartlett was one of the best things about the LSOH revival. |

You're absolutely right. Continue with your redundancy. And may bootlegs help you form all of your opinions on the performers of Chicago. |

First of all, the show is in AMAZING shape. The ensemble continues to be the sexiest, tightest, and most talented on Broadway. NOBODY phoned it in. I don't know of any other show I've ever made a return visit to where it seemed old and tired. Not here. It was if it was opening night. Truly thrilling. Donna Marie was still absent. I'm assuming, as posted above, vacation. That was our only disappointment. She's fierce.
Lisa and Harry are charming. He's incredibly hot, and when he makes his entrance in his tuxedo, you could literally hear a gasp in the audience. The charisma and charm made up for a voice that wasn't exactly the strongest you ever heard on a Broadway stage, but he sold every song. Lisa was SEXXXXXXY incarnate and is a ball of enthusiasm. She appears as though she is enjoying every second she is onstage. Brenda Braxton is the hardest working woman in Show Business. What a treat to see such an incredible, old fashioned, triple-threat Broadway veteran at work. She was seamless. Roz is a powerhouse Mama. Truly commands the stage and every moment she is on it. R. Lowe. Gorgeous voice. As for Rob Barlett... I had forgotten we had seen him as Mushnik, as well as in The Odd Couple last year. Wouldn't have recognized him as either if I hadn't read it in the PlayBill. Three pretty diverse roles, to go from a Zero Mostel ish flower shop owner, to a Jackie Gleason esque card player to such a sweet, loveable, heartbreaking Amos. I've never seen ANYBODY squeeze so much out of this role as this man. What a joy to watch such a well crafted performance. Sounded like he had a cold, but he was funny and charming and had the audience in the palm of his hand. Didn't overplay the pathos, or make Amos buffoonish, as it is someetimes played. His performance was worth the price of admission alone. But if you haven't ever seen Chicago on Broadway, or haven't in awhile, you really should go to the TKTS booth and do yourself a favor. There's a reason why it's been running for ten years. A truly entertaining 2 and a half hours on Broadway. No falling chandeliers or helicopters or big production values, just good, old fashioned talent, and gobs of it, pouring off that stage. Roger On The Aisle |

By far ROB BARTLETT is the best I have ever seen. He is an amazing person and performer.
I would go just to see his Mr. Cellophane performance! |

all Im getting at is Im tired of others telling me what i can and cannot talk about on here. maybe an opinion isnt as strong watching a bootleg as it is seeing it live, but if thats all you have, then it's not that big a deal. |

Rob was brilliant as Mushnick. anyone who says otherwise doesnt know what they are talking about. the only problem with the reival was Hunter Foster. he never convinced me he was a down on his luck nerd. |
