Who do you prefer for Seymour?

Who do you prefer for Seymour?, Hunter Foster or Rick Moranis? I prefer Hunter, just because he seemed to really nail the part, not that Rick didnt but Hunter is just so amazing andNerdy. I Love it!
Salome

Lee Wilkoff. hands down. he was perfect.

Why didnt you mention him,he created the role after all.

Rick was perfect in the film..great choice.come on he IS the qunitessential nerd!

I disliked Hunter, i felt he was trying too hard to act nerdy..he was totally unbelievable in the role.Hunter isnt nerdy by nature and he couldnt pull it off on stage. I like him much better in Urinetown.

Kerry Butler and Rob Bartlett however were the ultimate Audrey and Mushnik.
Not that Girl

I agree. Lee Wilkoff was by far the best Seymour.

I don't like Lee's voice. Hunter had the best voice (most of his songs were a key higher) and Rick had the best mannerisms.

Let me be the third to say Lee Wilkoff. Simply wonderful.
HeroTheBishop

Definitely Wilkoff. Definitely.
Monsieur D'Arque

The thing about Wilkoff, in the clips that I've seen and the OOBC that i've heard, is that he takes the character a different way than Rick or Hunter. Instead of emphasizing the character's nerdy awkwardness, he seems to emphasize that Seymour is a weak character. He doesn't need a put-on voice or mannerisms to make him scream "geek" because his voice and motion show that he's almost completely unable to assert himself. Even his singing style is different- he sings his phrases in a sort of stacatto, not holding any of them out for long, either out of poor technique or as an effective way of showing Seymour's feeble, indecisive nature. Rick's Seymour had the most believable attitude of hope/self-loathing and the best voice for the part, though I do like Hunter's. Wilkoff, however, is in a class of his own, playing the character as only he could have.

Lee is the typical concept one, like Superstar or Chess, the concept albums and shows are usually bad compared to the revivals and no one holds any notes ever! But they're always voted best because they were the "first". It makes me sad Sad

I see what you are saying. But personally, I prefer Kerry Butler to Ellen Greene any day. Even though Ellen created the role both on stage and in the movie, Kerry plays the part with much more edge. I have a hard time being empathetic towards Ellen's Audrey as compared to Kerry.

I like the movie actors/actresses but only cause thats all the professional ones i've seen. i love to see the stage one! i've seen two amatuer stage productions and they were pretty good.

Whilst of course I've heard Wilkoff and Moranis... I think never having seen it on stage, I'd choose Moranis.

However, what's with Teddy Kempner who played the part of Seymour in the Hey Mr Producer! concert? Where does he fit in to all of this?
