Who bought the new Sweeney CD?

I DID!
Sweeney Hyde

I didn't!

I will as soon as I can though.

I have it pre-ordered.

I will eventually. I got the download for free from the perfectly legal thread, but I'd prefer to support them and buy the actual cd with the booklet. and I'll see the movie 3 times this weekend to help them beat National Treasure at the box office. i encourage you all to see it at least twice this weekend.

I bought it midnight last night. I'm actually pleased with it. Helena's voice is growing on me, although she's defiantly the worst singer.
theatre_grl

I'm hoping someone will get it for me for Christmas Smile otherwise I'll buy it soon after.

I bought the 'highlights' edition and I really should have held out for the extended edition. It's just that I was at Target and this was all they had, and I didn't want to wait. I'm disappointed with how stripped down it is; they cut all of the spoken dialogue from within the songs, and so they just feel really naked. For example, in "No Place Like London," the whole conversation between Anthony and Sweeney is lost and it's basically just Johnny Depp singing to himself. Absolutely awful.
what_the_heck013

^Yeah, I was afraid of the highlights.
Amber

Got it tonight.

I'm in love with it. Though I think Helena IS obviously the weakest singer, her voice is really, really pleasant. She should work on it some more, and I could see her getting a LOT better.

I want to see it before I buy the CD. I've not watched many clips of it so far, and only listened to a few songs, so I want the suprise element.

I'm going to watch it with all the other people who played principle parts when we did Sweeney last summer. Smile

I got it. I'm still trying to decide if I like what they did to "God, That's Good!"

And although I prefer Toby as a teenager or adult, it's refreshing to hear him sung by a young, unchanged voice. He and Helena sound quite lovely together, I think.
ChrisFitzpatrick

I think it's decent, I haven't listened to the whole CD yet. I'm waiting to see the movie first.

Same here. I own it, and it's sitting on my desk 'til I see the film.
ilovebway

Santa is getting me this for Christmas.
krisavalon

I was tempted to wait until after seeing the film, but I just couldn't do it. I'm seeing the movie tomorrow at midnight, though!
Not Dead Yet

I got it the day it released. And yeah, God That's Good should have had the Sweeney Part and a chorus... hell, the whole damn thing should have had a chorus. It worked well on film, but a chorus makes it more powerful on a soundtrack. Only good thing is the Lovett/Toby harmony near the end of the song.

I just got it today, after seeing the movie. I'm in love with it Very Happy

Yes, I'd say Helena is the weakest, but she makes it work for her. She did amazing with the part, and of course she'd never had vocal training before Applause

The only voice I'm a little disappointed with is Jayne Wisener (Johanna). Still, it's growing on me.
Not Dead Yet

Yeah, I dunno. You either love the Johanna or you hate her. Personally, I think she was good for the roll, really good little meek blonde girl.

Vocally, she definitely can hit the notes; good vocal quality, even though her vibrato drives me mad. It's so w i d e.

I still say she's weird looking, though.

I was in my mum's room and I saw the new Sweeney CD! She is keeping it for my Christmas present. She's a little mad I saw it but she shouldn't make it so easy to find should she? I am SO tempted to go steal it and listen to it!
SweeneyLovett

i bought the highlights CD at Walmart a couple of days ago.

My grandmother sent me $25 dollars to spend on a Christmas present and I used that to buy the soundtrack. I'm pretty pleased with with it! Smile

(The cd was $3 over my spending limit, so I had to convince my dad to let me use the some of my allowance to pay for the rest...yeah, I was that desperate! lol But hey! It was the last one on the shelf for goodness sake!)

Helena's voice is a little weak, (she could've been stronger in "My Friends") but I really like her in "Not While I'm Around" and the young boy who plays Toby (Edward Sanders, I think his name is...) is a really good singer for someone so young!

As for Johanna, I like her! I was a little iffy when I listened to "Green Finch" for the first time, but her voice has really grown on me, I think I listen to that song more than any other on the cd. ("Green Finch" was actually the first song I listened to as soon as I opened the soundtrack because I was dying to know what Johanna would sound like.)

I think I've listened to every track on the cd except for the last one. I refuse to listen to the "Final Scene" until after I see the movie!
SunriseSunset

I just bought it from iTunes, I had to because I hadn't stopped singing the songs since I saw it two days ago, and am hopefully seeing again tonight! Very Happy
