In my opinion - Albert Peterson is the male lead followed by Hugo followed by Conrad and Mr. Macaffee as the supporting male leads. Other male parts include Maude the Bartender, The Mayor, and Harvey Johnson. |

Shouldn't the little brother even be mentioned? He had some okay lines. I'm not claiming he's a lead, just a contributor. It was kind of funny, because in our production it was actually two brothers who played the brother and Mr. Mckafee. So JJ was used to telling Mikey to shut up I can't begin to order the male leads, because it was so long ago, and also each production is different... directors cut different lines, and even whole scenes, in the interest of time. And different directors highlight different parts (partly because of the talent of whatever actor it is), so in some versions Mr. Mackaffee might have been a big part, and the actor milked it for all it was worth, so when you thought of the play, you thought of him.. whereas in other versions, he might just have been there becasue Kim needed parents. Just my 2 cents, ~rachel~ |

In the production I was in, Albert was the lead, followed by Mr. MacAfee who indeed milked it for all it was worth, then Conrad, then Hugo who barely seemed to have a part at all. | ||

SORRY.. BUT mCaFEE IS A MUCH LARGER ROLE THAN cONRAD. cONRAD HAS VERY LITTLE DIALOUGE AND VERY LITTLE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. HIS SONGS DO NOT FURTHER THE PLOT AT ALL.
Albert is the central figure..Mcaffee is the supporting role with Conrad a secondary role. |

I would put both characters as supporting characters. I think that this is one show which places one couple in the spotlight (Albert and Rosie) against a background of several characters. Although Conrad has less to do than Mr McAffee, he is as important to the show - in my humble opinion - and I'd rank both of them along with Kim and Mae. Later days David |

In my opinion, Albert is definately the single male lead. Supporting would be first Mr. MacAfee, then Conrad. Other male roles include Hugo, Randolph, Harvey, the Mayor, and Maude; Hugo and Randolph being the larger of the rest. |
