Which role...Ok, so I know there are a ton of topics like this one, but I have no idea which part to audition for. I am going to be in a production of Fiddler...Jr, and I will be one of the oldest there (ages 6-15; I'm 15). I am 5'1'' with wavy, long blonde hair. I have extensive voice/dancing/acting training, so I could do Hodel's solo [I'm a soprano] or Chava's ballet sequence. And I'd like to be Tzeitel because I'll be the oldest and I really want to wear a wedding dress But can I play either of them with blonde hair? Thanks in advance...

Of the three sisters...I have always thought Tzeital would be the most boring to be...yes she gets the dress...but other than that...?
Hodel is great because she gets to do some great acting with Far From the Home That I Love and that is a great moment in the show.
Chava, however, I think requires the best acting abilily of the three. She has the potential to really make the audience cry for her. I have seen the show twice, once on Broadway and a high school production. The high school Hodel I saw...I don't think I'll ever forget. She was brilliant. When she broke down...I broke down! haha...but seriously...it can be a really stirring part.
Since you have the dance experience I would go for that role, however, Hodel would be good too because of the song.

Okay. Here's my feelings on all three (I was in it this past winter.)
Tzietl - Requires least acting ability, technically, of the three. However. I *think* she gets the most stage time. And, a truly great actress can bring Tzietl out of the background into a both funny and lovely character (think, her solo in "Matchmaker" ..."HODEL! OH HODEL!" ...our Tzietl was hilarious at this.) She, of course, gets to 'do more', as in...she is the eldest, had the marraige arranged for her, begs to not marry Lazar, begs to marry Motel, marries Motel, has a baby, bids farewell to her family.
Hodel - Requires the most vocal ability of the three. Also has a tough scene with Tevye @ the train station. Not as weepy as Chava's scene, but still a tearjerker. She, of course, also gets the most scenes romance-wise, you get to see her relationship with Perchik build a lot more than Tzietl/Motel's, or Chava/Fydeka's. I think their love is super cute. They hate each other at first, but grow to love each other. And, of course, she forsakes her family to move and live with him while he's in jail in Siberia. Tough stuff. She sings in "Matchmaker", "Sunrise, Sunset", "Far From the Home I Love" (her big song), and gets a little bit in Perchik's song, "Now I Have Everything". So, singing wise, she needs to be aces.
Chava - Now, I'm warning you...I'm a little biased, because I played Chava. BUT. I feel that Chava requires intense acting ability. She was my most challenging role thus far in my career, even though she really had the least amount of "stage time" than any of the daughters. I didn't get a ton of lines, I didn't get any solos except in Matchmaker...but, I got to dance (which is rare that I get to do a beautiful ballet in a show...I'm a trained dancer, so I loved that), and I made people cry during a scene. It's a powerful feeling to know that you caused people to literally start to cry. I had never really experienced that before. So, if you're a good dramatic actress...Chava is a great time to try that out.
Just my opinions!!
