Which Part should I go for?

I have auditions in a few months for Music Man through a local youth theater group. The groups age range is 5-21. I'm 15, I'll be almost 16 when we do the show. I'm 5'1 and I have long brown hair. I'm a mezzo with a decent voice and I'm a fair dancer(I've never taken classes but I've done dancing in most of my shows). I played Lily St. Regis in Annie through this theater group a few months ago. I know I don't want to be Marian ( I find her rather boring and know my friends Kristen will most likely get it...the theater group almost always has the same people auditon so you can almost guess who will get what). I was thinking Zaneeta would be fun(I know in the movie she has an intense dance part but we have no male dancers so I doubt I will need to be a great dancer). I also think Mrs. Shinn might not be too bad but I'm currently leaning towards Zaneeta. I wouldn't mind getting chorus even because I love this show sooooo much. I guess what part do you think I should try for and how can I prepare for my audition?

Thanks a ton,
Kendra

It seems that each of the characters are made for ONE particular talent. If you are a great character actress, you could get the most acclaim and applause for the role of Eulalie Mackecknie (sp?) Shinn. If you are an okay dancer, go for Zaneeta Shinn. If you have an amazing, several octave soprano range, Marian Paroo is the perfect role for you (That rhymed!). Since you are a mezzo, I wouldn't suggest Marian, but I urge you to aim for Mrs. Shinn. Mrs. Paroo isn't a bad part, either if you can do the Irish brogue.
