Which Assassins Recording is Best?

Just what the title says...I'm making my Christmas list...which is basically just a huge list of cast recordings that I want...but which Assassins Cast Recording should I get?
Salome

OCR is by far the besrt.
its got the finest cast Victor garber as Booth, Jonathn Hadray as Guiteau,Terrance Mann as Czolgoz,Debr Monk as Sara Jane Moore,Annie Golden as Sqieaky,Lee Wilkoff as Byck, and Patrick Cassidy as the Baladeer.

the only actor in te revival that comes close is Denis O'Hare. not that the revival is poor its just nowhere near as great.

No one ever gives him credit but I prefer the OCR because of William Parry. However, the revival orchestrations are IIRC better and if you are fans of Michael Cerveris and Neil Patrick Harris you might enjoy that recording more.

You can listen to all the songs from the revival recording through this online radio, though there are limits and delays involved. You have to request a song then tune in in about an hour when it actually plays, and it won't play several from the same show all in a row.

I've heard all of the original cast recording, and only bits and pieces of the revival. Based on that, I prefer the original. IMO, the original Booth and Czolgoz seem more heartfelt, and the Balladeer seems less whiny.

Patrick Cassidy owns the balladeer the same way Rex Harrison owns henry Higgins and Yul Brynner owns The King of Siam.

I can't stand the voices or the orchestrations on the new recording. It's the original one for me. The only thing that makes the revival cast worthwhile is NPH. And Ceveris.
Pannic

I don't hate the orchestrations in the new recording, but I think it kinda lost something from the original... But I think perhaps Neil Patrick Harris and the inclusion of 'Something Just Broke' make it a worthwhile purchase. Not that I have any real interest in purchase.

That made me "lol".

Not that musical theatre fans need to have an interest in purchase Wink
