Wasn't there an episode where the Daleks supplanted Daros when he no longer suited their needs? "Dr Who" was always deep in meaning Anyway, that's what happened Aimee.

They did that in the very first story involving Davros - Genesis of the Daleks. Only to go looking for him again (naturally after shooting him with a Dalek gun, he'd still be alive) because they'd reached a stalemate in a war with the Movellans (Destiny of the Daleks).
The daleks then seemed to split into factions, one loyal to Davros and one loyal to the Emperor Dalek.
Terry Nation (the real creator of the Daleks) stipulated that after he'd invented Davros, he had to appear in every story featuring the Daleks afterwards. This nearly scuppered their return to Doctor Who in the new series because the executors of Nation's estate insisted on having Davros as per the rules. Russell T Davis wanted to use Daleks but not Davros. Some kind of compromise was reached which didn't involve Davros in the end and the Daleks became AWESOME in the two new series of Doctor Who!
