What??

Ok does any one get what Janet (from Drowsy Chaperone Of Course!) is talking about in Bride's Lament. I'm so confuzzled here's what it says for those of you who don't know....

Janet: I put a monkey on a pedestal and tried to make that monkey stay, and he did for a time but he needed to climb and with other monkeys play, Far Away. He left his jacket on that pedestal beside his tiny rusty cup and I haven't got the strength to pick them up. Monkey, Monkey, Monkey You broke my heart in two, but I'll always save that pedestal for you. Come my little monkey, come my little monkey do.

WHAT???? As far as I can tell from the cast recording her fiance' dumped her for a french girl, THERE ARE NO MONKEYS!!!!! There are no MONKEYS in France!!

And later in song it gets weirder

She has a "Total Mental Breakdown"
And the chorus starts singing MONKEY, MONKEY over and over again.

And then the song suddenly turns basically into a medley from 1st act songs.
And She deliberates if she wants to show off or not (This is a little bit of a reprise from what was shown on the Tony's.

And at the end of the song she screams I LOVE YOU MONKEY!!!

Does anyone get this??? I sure don't

Hahahahahhahahaah it's symbolic of her her wanting to quit the "celebrity" life...and asking herself if it's the performance she loves or just the love of the people, and whether or not she should get marriedddddddd......hahaha I felt the same way the first time I heard it!

So is the monkey her fans or is it Robert?
Ep-Griz-Reno

I'm not 100 percent sure...I think that the monkey-stool combo represents her fame...the pedestool being her fame and fortune, and the monkey.and she's sort of contemplating whether or not she wants to leave the stool, and if she left the stool it would mean robert.....just my guess =D
