What's everyone's problem with Julia?

Okay, I’ve been youtubing… and what I want to know is why there are so many (clearly very mature) people who post things like ‘julia sux!’ and ‘omg I saw wikid and kendra was well funny but julia was shit!’ I saw Wicked for the second time on Broadway in the summer and I was really looking forward to seeing Julia Murney as Elphaba, ever since I saw clips of her on youtube… and believe me, she did not disappoint.

Julia reminds me so much of Margaret Hamilton (orginal Wicked Witch in the 1939 movie), and I think that’s why I like her portrayal of Elphaba so much: She brings home some of her orginal in her portrayal. She’s not like all the other actresses who, as phenomenal as their voices are, don’t get me wrong, riff their way to hell through the songs like it’s some kind of pop-concert, and I think that’s why her Elphaba is so engaging for me: she’s not trying to get the crowd saying ‘Wow, that actress has an amazing voice’ she’s trying to get people to connect with the character, apart from the fact that her chemistry on stage with Kendra is to die for. Her Elphaba is as quirky and outlandish when she sings as she is when she acts, and for me, she almost (note the ALMOST) bridges the gap between book and musical. Elphaba isn’t some pop-dive scene kid… she’s a social outcast.

And for all you bashers: her vibrato rules!

Phew! Got that off my chest… anyone else got any views? Haha =D

Julia is amazing. And I love her vibrato. And her acting is phenomenal. In all honesty, she's far too good for Wicked.

I think Julia has brought the best acting the role has seen yet.
She measures the growth of the character so beautifully, and I agree, her voice rules!

Shoot! Tell Lea Michelle that you can buy it now! She needs it!

Wicked fans have actually been lobbying for Lea Michele to be a future Elphaba. *shudders*

Wow, I'd hate the show even more!

I also like that she looked like a young Margaret Hamilton in the makeup, and her acting was phenomenal from what I've seen on youtube (she did a heartbreaking No Good Deed a while back)...her singing wasn't my favourite though...not quite suited to the score (taht being said, she still has a good voice, I youtubed soem of her other performances from other shows and she sounded great), I know that's what a lot of people complained about, mainly her vibratto and her final note on DG, which many described as a "yodel" or "viking yell". But that aside, she was a great Elphaba, and had superb chemistry with Kendra Kassebaum.
