There aren't too many roles for you, but there are a few. The only two I can think of are Bet and Charlotte Sowerberry. I can try to help you pick a song. What's your vocal range and what (if any) shows have you done?

I'm also 16 and am about to try out for Oliver! It's at a community theater I haven't performed at yet, so I am unsure about how many teenagers they usually cast. I look old for my age (like early 20's). I'm really tiny and about 5'7". I'm an alto, but can sing mezzo. What part should I audition for? Could I go for Nancy, or is that probably unlikely? Does Nancy need to have a really loud, powerful belting voice? What audition song would you recommend? I also have a sweet, bubbly personality that comes out in my smile. Directors see this and always want to cast me in "girly" roles, but I know I could make a good "ruffian" too. What should I do? Act less sweet or just accept the persona???

I'd go with Rose Seller or any of the girls who sing during "Who Will Buy?". I played the Rose Seller in a community theatre at age 13, so I think the role could be quite appropriate. Our Nancy was about seventeen years old, so I don't think that role's out of your range. You could also, again, go for Charlotte Sowerberry or Bet.
I don't think Nancy needs to be a super belter. You HAVE to be able to really sing out those last notes/held-out notes during "As Long As He Needs Me", but IMO, as long as you get that down you can just sing the rest of the song as softly as you want, just make sure that you could crescendo to a really powerful ending to tie in with the emotions happening in the character and in the song.
Simplydramatic, just show them what you can do. Be yourself- trying to put on a different kind of personality may just come off as false. Show them your skills and see where that takes you, just don't try to change YOU in the process.

It all depends on who they get for Oliver, Dodger, Fegain, Bill Sykes, and they all have to work together.
Nancy would usually be older, and her range is considered alto, though I think of her songs as big belting songs.
Bet can be a good part, she has a lot of stage time, sings big chunks of solo parts in songs, but has no lines (though I think I understand they added lines for her in the London version). She needs to look younger than Nancy.
Charlotte doesn't sing, but is a fun part. She is the undertaker's daughter and flirts with Noah and is mean to Oliver.
This is a show where it can be fun to be in the ensemble, too. Often the Strawberry Seller and Rose seller are in the ensemble.
Good luck.

depends on your strengths..Nancy should probably be olderthan 16 if it's a community theatre but for highschool or youth theatre that's a good age for Nancy..and I think she has to have a pretty voice but has lower notes..maybe her bar songs are more "belty" and strong..but "as long as he needs me" should be pretty..and being on pitch is key (that's obvious but I've seen a lot of Nancys who do the whole show flat..YUCK!) anyway back to the strength thing..if you are more of an actress..Charlotte definitely..if you are more of a singer..the Rose Seller, Milk Maind, or Strawberry Seller definitely..and Bet is a "filler" role with some singing and acting. Song wise..for Nancy something from Chicago/Cabaret..or just something that shows vulnerability would be good for other roles its always safe to go for the classics!

I was 17 and I got told my voice was perfect for the role so I would disagree on the whole "not at 16" statement. i think it depends on the voice and sadly the appearence of the girl (you wouldnt want a 4ft girl playing nancy really) Vocally for nace you need to have dynamic of course most of it is belted out but you also need the control as you said for aslong as he needs me which is somewhat more of a weepy silent song (till the build up at the end)

Nacy is usually cast at least at 23, or leat looks like she is 23. The Nacy has to be able to look different age-wise then the Bet that is cat. And the part of Bet is usually cast 13-15.

I was Bet when I was in oliver, and I was 13 when I did it. I was an exceptionally young Bet... hehe.
But like everyone else has said, I would reccomend roles for sixteen year olds:
Female - Bet, Charlotte
but it also depends on the type of theatre group you're auditioning with. If it's a children theatre's group then you'll have a good shot at Nancy, but if it's adult and children, stick to the choices above.

i'm auditioning for a youtheatre production soon and i'll be 14. i've been told i look older than i am (with glasses) but i'm about 5ft4. i'm quite a strong actress and i'm fairly good at singing (i'm a belty mezzo - low e/eb to high c#). i'm very musical but if i audition for all the female roles, i was wondering which i'd stand a better chance of getting and if the director might double the part of Bet and Charlotte
thanks!
sorry if this isn't on topic but it's similar so i thought it'd be ok

If it's a youth production there are a lot of parts you can go for. And if they're double casting, would they double cast all the roles, or just the major leads? The parts of Bet and Charlotte are fairly small and might not be double cast unless they are doubling everyone.
Also look at Mrs. Corney, she sings several songs with Mr. Bumble, and is a good comic part.
Mrs. Sowerberry sings with Mr. Sowerberry in the funeral parlor.
Good luck.

i think i'll go for all the characters (if i'm allowed) and try to find the script at my library so i can go into the audition knowing at least one part...
