What part should i go for?I'm a strong bass/baritone (My range is about E2-F4), and I sing better than I act (mostly because of experience/lack thereof). If it matters, I'm Chinese, which could affect casting depending on the director. What parts should I look at auditioning for?
btw, I'm 17, and this is for high school, if that matters.

Rolf, Liesl's boyfriend, sounds like a good part for you!
The range is baritone, D3 to E4. Rolf doesn't have a ton of challenging acting; the scene where he is torn between the Nazi party and the Von Trapps might be a bit difficult but I think you can pull it off if you try 
I sincerely hope ethnicity will not play a part in the casting. I really don't like it when people do that, especially high schools or community theatres.

Ok, well I ended up getting cast as Friedrich (the Rolf is a better actor than I am, which is ok, given my inexperience...I have only done chorus before). Can someone tell me about this part? Do I get to sing or have any lines?
And Arti comes from Articuno, my favorite Pokemon from when I was in like 4th grade. I told you you'd be unimpressed!

In terms of lines, I don't think you have very many, and same with solos. BUT, you are in all of the scenes that the von Trapp kids are in (obviously), so you get to sing a lot in the group.
PLUS you get to sing the two best songs in the show:
The Sound of Music (the a capella four-part harmony)
Do-Re-Mi (Concert Version)
I wasn't cast as a von Trapp, but they couldn't sing those two rather difficult songs on their own, so I was singing offstage to help them, and I absolutely adored doing that.
