They do a lot of the same shows... in one season. This is a youth theatre, I assume? I don't know what my youth theatre is doing. It'll be either Hello, Dolly!, Anything Goes, or Peter Pan. My other community theatre is doing: The Most Happy Fella, Nicholas Nickleby, Steve Allen's The Wake, Twelfth Night, aaaand my personal favorite of the season although I'm too young to audition for Sad Follies. I have no idea what we're doing at school. I don't even know who the director will be.
Kaaatrina

Yes, that's for my youth theater. But I'm glad they have a lot of shows, because there are no 'real' productions or shows at my school...

What I mean is that we make up our own shows and stuff, and we've never had a musical. Sad
OneSongGlory

My home theatre's not announcing its season until mid-July, but a nearby theatre that I'd like to start doing shows at is performing this:

Guys and Dolls
Footloose
Hair
Sound of Music
Peter Pan

^^Main Stage

and..

Frankenstein
The Odd Couple
Godspell
A Streetcar Named Desire
On Golden Pont

^^In the Studio Theatre.

I'm not terribly fond of the season (it's all stage to screen musicals), but I'd love to do Footloose (Willard or Garvin) and Godspell (We Beseech Thee soloist).
lalala

Witches of Eastwick was the May show
Little Shop of Horrors is on at the moment
Anything Goes is the October show

Ooh, and Beauty and the Beast was announced for May next year.
Amy_Vocalist

The Secret Garden at the moment

Seussical Next year
Imy

My College is doing:

The Crucible
Nunsense
The Heidi Chronicles
Cabaret

and a couple of student productions that have yet to be decided upon.
mtgirl118

April - Honk! Jr.
June/July - Gypsy
August - Summer Camp, production to be announced
December - rumors of "Bah, Humbug!" not announced

Bah, Humbug! is a version of A Christmas Carol. We did it last year and recieved great reviews. I was Fanny (Scrooges sister that dies) and Mary, a Crachit child.

Ellen Marie
Chevstriss

the local professional theatre only casts me about once every 10 yrs, here is their season:

Born Yesterday - cast before it was announced
All My Sons - I think only men in this show
The Laramie Project - students only
A Year with Frog & Toad - trying to get an audition for Mother Frog - it's unlikely they will see me tho
Fences - african american only
Assassins - students only
A Shakespeare Project:King Lear - students only
A Flea in Her Ear - I'm unlikely to be seen for this

theatre I worked last summer in philly - but didn't invite me back this summer (all the women look young this summer) and their season looks bleak:

Around the World in 80 Days - one east indian woman under 30
Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge - no one would cast me in something like this
Ethel Waters, His Eye is on the Sparrow - african american only
Bully Pulpit - one man show about Teddy Roosevelt
Forever Plaid - 4 man show

another philly theare I've done lots of shows at, but not for a coupla yrs:

AIDA - no older women
YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN - no grown ups
THRILL ME - 2 man love story
PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES - hopefully I have a GOOD shot at this, but if they spend all the budget on the actor's who must also play instruments, they will go local non-eq for the women
OKLAHOMA! - I don't think they would think I'm old enough for Aunt Eller

so my opportunities are pretty limited.
MaryMag

Sorry to hear about the discouraging prospects, Chevy. Maybe you should think about coming to eastern iowa... Wink

My theater's season (my theater meaning the one I volunteer at most)
Jungle Book Jr.
an original musical about Hans Christian Anderson holiday tales
Elixir of Love
Cash on Delivery
Angels in America 1 and 2
Full Monty
Aladdin Jr.
Barber of Seville
West Side Story

My university's season, (though i've graduated, i can still audition there)
Into the Woods
The Tender Land
La Boheme
[they haven't announced the nonmusical productions yet]
LisaKitty

The community theatre I have been doing most of my shows with will be doing:

The Mikado (October/November)
The Sound of Music (January/February)
Guys and Dolls (May/June)

The opera company I'll be singing in the chorus for is doing:

Tales of Hoffmann (late November)
Die Fledermaus (late April)

And yes, I'm just insane enough that I'm going to try to do all five. The two opera choruses are a done deal, and the other three I'll be auditioning for and hoping for the best. Smile
mtgirl118

Hey, no fair. You guys have better seasons than I do. Besides Gypsy.

Ellen
bwaybrunette21

It's funny that this topic is up because I got my 2006-2007 show schedule in the mail today!

The main stage shows, which are open to anyone and performed on weekends, include:

Annie (December show)
Damn Yankees (March show)
Oliver! (June show)

The teen theater is doing:

Grease (December show)
Oklahoma! (March show)
Seussical (June show)

Then the kid's theater is doing:

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (December show)
Beauty and the Beast (March show)
Peter Pan (June show)
Patch

Will Rogers Follies
Lucky Stiff
Miss Firecracker
Urinetown
Into the Woods
The Nightingale
Billy Bob's Christmas Jamboree-a BRT original
mannfann714

My school is doing:
It's A Wonderful Life (on stage..don't ask how, i don't know)
Antigone (student-directed by my best friend, yay)
The Rimers of Eldritch
Winter Cabaret (revue of showtunes, I was in it last year and NEVER auditioning again, not a good experience)
Student Playwriting Festival
and one musical which is either Sweet Charity or Jesus Christ Superstar. my director is fickle.
Gwen

Well, next year all we're doing is
Twelfth Night and
Hello Dolly

But this year, we did:
Once on This Island
Cinderella
Small World (an original musical)
Stars So High -also original. My friend starred in it, and he did an awsome job!!

other than that, we did Rimers of Eldritch, Gaslight, Criminal Hearts, and...at least 9 original student written One Act Plays. each lasting about 20-30 minutes long, and each group had a month to rehearse all at the same time. I was in one, they're great to do. Unfortunately, it was all I got to do. I never had a chance fo try out for the muscials, and was rejected in the plays I did try out for. I got a callback for Gaslight, but the part went to my audition partner. It made me dissapointed because I saw it coming. After her reading, the director was like, "That was so good! I was tearing up!" And not only that, the girl who got it had more time to practice than I did, because she started over every time someone else walked by. (We had to listen to each other.) But anyway, that's over and done.

wicked_diva

At my college:
Musicals: The Music Man, Urban Cowboy: The Musical, Oil City Symphony
Operas: Signor Deluso, The Boor, A Streetcar Named Desire, Merry Wives of Windsor
Plays: Cosi, The Crucible, My Three Angels, Valor, Outrage and Woman, The Outsiders, The Children's Hour

At the three community theatres near my home:
Theatre 1: Aida, Honk, Wonderful Town
Theatre 2: Bye Bye Birdie, She Loves Me, Thoroughly Modern Millie
Theatre 3: West Side Story, Forever Plaid, The Wiz (youth), Into the Woods
Holly

I haven't found out what my school or any nearby theatres are doing...guh. Just waiting and hoping to find out in September.

Although I do know that a youth theatre group type of thing that I do shows with usually every summer might be doing Into the Woods next summer...that's bound to change, though.
Gazelle

This year is our school's 10th anni (magnet school)
But we're only doing 3 shows...wtf right?

Cats
Songs For The New World
King Leer

it's North East School of Arts (NESA), but the director of the school doesn't even really know shows very well...but she has the final say on what we're doing. And because alot of people talked about Cats this year, she went along with it. The musical theatre, tech theatre, dance, and instrumental music directors...were not happy. She just wanted a big show because it's our big 10th year...but the last season-

B&B
The Mikado
Stage Door
3PO

before that-

The Grapes of Wrath
Summer of Love
H2S in Buisness w/o Even Trying
Sweeney Todd

...oh yeah...we went all out this year... cause we're doing CATS! Neutral ...
AllThatJazzHands

My school:

Macbeth
For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf
Seussical
Flannel Shorts (student-written one acts)
Jack and the Wonder Beans
You Can't Take it With You (<-really want to try for that)
Holy Ghosts
Private Lives (<-want to try for this, too)
Our Lady of 121st Street

My local community theatre:

Judgement at Nuremburg
Dreamgirls
The Wizard of Oz (their annual show b/c it's so family friend)
Broadway On The Nile (a season-ticket membership created revue)
The Full Monty

I'd like to go for the two plays above and the Nile thing. Revues are always fun. Especially when season members pick the songs you get to do. Should be interesting.
Holly

I just found out what my (high) school is doing Smile

Fall: Er...I can't remember what it's called. It's a play, something with "blue" in the title.
Spring: Either Chicago or Singing in the Rain, leaning towards Singing.
Summer: probably West Side Story

We also do a student production but we'll find that out later.

I wish we'd do Chicago. :[ Singing in the Rain is my teacher's favorite movie, though...he was bound to do it sometime. (It's his ring tone. Razz)
allygator

High school:
Reckless
The Yellow Boat
Little Shop of Horrors
Courtyard Shakespeare (whatever that is. I haven't been able to find anything about it, despite searching all over google and several other sites.)

Community theatre:
The Night Hank Williams Died
Inherit the Wind
Steel Magnolias
The Threepenny Opera

I'm kind of disappointed. I don't think that there are any shows at all this year at the community theatre that I would even be considered for, just based on age. Another theatre is doing Ragtime, though, and I might be considered for that.
Cake_in_Song

My school is doing My Fair Lady as the fall musical. We usually have two other productions, for the senior acting classes, but those aren't decided on untill later. I'd love to do some Wilde, but I'm not sure how realistic that would be. The extremely elite Senior Company (which, coincidently, will have only two seniors in it, along with multiple juniors and sophomores) usually writes their own show based on a pre-selected theme. Last year was Love, the year before that, Scizophrenia, and the year before that, Prostitution. I stopped watching those ones as soon as the director stopped holding auditions for spots and started hand-selecting his favourites instead.
The director of my summer theatre group desperately wants to perform Grease next year, much to the delight of every member except myself. I may elect not to participate this year, considering I can't find a solid role in Grease that fits my profile as a performer.
Salome

I work with several different theatres ..some of the shows being done in and around my region this season:

Assassins
Urinetown
Underpants
Skull in Connemara
Wizard of Oz
Art
Full Monty
Christmas Carol
The Crucible
Same Time Next Year
Tartuffe:Born Again
Man Who Came to Dinner
Steel Magnolias
Democracy
lalala

Assassins? You should be a very happy girl!
Salome

absolutely! auditions are in september!
lalala

Yay! Best of luck! Have you ever been in the show before?
Salome

no. but i know it by heart so i'm ready! hehe
demeter_cat2010

Our theatre is doing:

Steel Magnolias
Guys and Dolls
Lie, Cheat, and Genuflect
Enter Laughing
Annie
Godspell

and in summer, West Side Story!!

YAY!!! Very Happy
wheresmyvoice
