According to Inverne's Stage and Screen Trivia, it translates thus...
"What am I doing here? They say my famous lover held down my husband while I cut off his head. But this isn't true! I am innocent! I don't know why Uncle Sam thinks I did it. I tried to explain at the police station but they didn't understand me."

I think the whole point is no one understands and give more sympathy to Hunyak.... to show that she's so innocent and trust in Uncle Sam, but Uncle Sam turns against her and she doesnt even know about it!
It's interesting to know what the passage actually says! THANK YOU!
