Lazarus (Adam G)

What Does Gillian Say?After Gillian finishes the last line before the music interlude in Gethsemane, you can hear him say something...I just can't hear him clearly enough to tell what he is saying. Does anyone know?

Some Amazon reviewer said once that it was something like "That was great!" but more screamed.

So it wasn't meant to be recorded?

No, it wasn't. God, I hope not.

Neither was:
Brian Kieth's coughing during "The Arrest"
Barry's lines being erased during "Pilate and Christ"
Tim Rice saying "Go!" at the start of "Heaven On Their Minds" which strangely enough made its way into the film version...
And D'Ablo's adlibs furing the ourto of "King Herod's Song"
But, Rice hoped that no-one would notice any of that.

I'm guessing this is the original movie?

Yes. Just before Carl sings, you can hear Tim Rice say "Go!" just as he does on the 1970 record.

I never noticed the 'go' thing before. I can't really hear Keith coughing.
Also, I thought Barry Dennen's lines were erased in Trial Before the Pilate?

Listen to the Concept on headphones with the volume turned waaaaaaay up, and concentrate on the right speaker. You can hear the coughing during Caiaphas' speech.
Dennen's "Who is this unfortunate" was erased somehow. Dennen told me he was out of the country "shooting a movie at the time, so I couldn't redo it. So, Murray (Head) had to record the last bit of the line. Listen closely, you can hear the splice." Nothing was erased in "Trial Before Pilate." Though, the line "He's done no wrong. No, not the slightest thing" appears twice in the original lyric book.

Well, I never did. I'll have to pay attention next time.

P.S: for trainspotters-- it's Rice doing the 39 lashes with a strip of metal attached to cardboard in the original concept album.

First, turn up the volume in the opening bars. You'll hear it. Sometimes, it sounds like a faint "oh" but it's Lloyd Webber saying "Go." Trust me, it's there.
Second, Rice did the sound effect in the hallway of the Olymoic Studio where they were recording. He hitting the wall with a piece of wood.
