what business does this show have...playing longer on broadway than "Company?"
really...not only is "Company" quite possibly the most brilliant musical of the last fifty years (okay, the second most brilliant), but the revival itself was absolutely ingenious as well, with some of the best performances in recent memory.
how on earth has "tarzan" made it longer? is that the kind of power that disney has in entertainment these days?

You must be new to all this.
Quality of shows don't matter any more. Tarzan is a humongous (sp?) piece of $#!%, but people eat it up because it's
a) Family appropriate; and
b) Disney has areally good reputation on Broadway, and everywhere else.
They [Disney] have awesome shows out like Beauty and the Beast and Mary Poppins, so people have really high expectations.
They must be very disappointed at the end.
Anyways, shows close because people stop buying tickets, not because of the quality.
Nowadays, if shows have a big budget, it's an automatic hit.

oh i understand all of that...what i don't understand is why people stop buying tickets to the good shows and why anyone bought tickets to tarzan in the first place...lol

Because we are a country of stupid people who adore name brands.

Because people were not interested in seeing it and there is a line from a show that goes "People would rather listen to the radio then go to the theatre and no one listens to the radio anymore."

Big Budgets = Success? | musikal_geek wrote: | | Nowadays, if shows have a big budget, it's an automatic hit. |
I wouldn't say that's a hard and fast rule. Many shows with big budgets are flops too.
