What Ablum to Buy?/What's the DifferenceIf anyone was having the same questions with other cast albums you can post here!On Itunes there are two of Shrek the Musical and of Billy Elliot. What's the difference/Which one should I get? |

Those are two very different shows, and they can't really be compared. It would be like comparing apples and oranges.
I have Shrek, and I really enjoy it. I originally only got it because of Sutton Foster, but it was surprisingly better than I expected. I do not have Billy Elliot, but I've heard several songs from it through AccuBroadway and YouTube. I like most of what I've heard. If you're into fun, upbeat, family-friendly stuff, go with Shrek. If you're into something less happy, but still fun, go with Billy Elliot. I could be mistaken, but I think Billy Elliot has a Parental Advisory Warning (for language), if that matters to you. Overall, both are good shows. Both are very different shows. Just depends on what you're interested in. I'd say listen to music from both (quite a bit of both is available on YouTube) and pick which one you like better. |

I think he is saying there are two Shrek cast albums on iTunes, for some reason. And he wants know what the difference between them are. |

What dolbinau said!
Sorry for not making it clear, but I do see how you would have made that mistake. |

On iTunes, one of them has 15 tracks and one has 18.
They're both the Original London Cast. They're just packaged differently (like what they did for Mary Poppins, if my memory serves me correctly.) for US and UK release. ETA: I just remembered that they did indeed release two different versions. One version was a two-disc recording that featured Elton John singing few songs on the second track (and IMHO, not a necessity to have). Another version only featured the actual show, and is a one-disc recording. I'm not sure what exactly is on stock currently, but that cover art on Amazon definitely is for Broadway with the silhouette of buildings on the title. All three original London Billys got the chance in the recording studio. But in the end, they just picked Liam Mower. (And yes, it is George Maguire on the "Angry Dance" track.) It has been the case where all three Billys were indeed getting a lot of attention from the press, but Liam Mower seemed to be the "favorite" among many, and his departure of the show was widely publicized. http://broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.cfm?thread=992127 |

Thank so much for that! I will get the one with Elton John then.
