Well this stinks...I heard that Alla Pugacheva...the Russian superstar was going to star in Chess, but she couldn't leave, so Benny and Bjorn had to hire someone else...that made me sad. |

1983
All ABBA members are working hard on their solo careers. Agnetha releases her first solo album, produced by Mike Chapman, 'Wrap Your Arms Around Me'. Surf to www.agnetha.net for more information. Frida had left Sweden in 1982 to live in London. In March and April 1983, she records demos for her upcoming album at the Polar Studios in Stockholm. Björn and Benny have their hands full on the 'Chess' musical. On January 28,29 and 30 the bearded half of ABBA and Tim Rice visit Moscow. They plan to visit chess world champion Anatoly Karpov. Soviet pop singer Alla Pugacheva is offered a role in the future musical Chess to play the wife of a Soviet chess player but she has to refuse the offer because of the political climate in the USSR. --------------------------------------------------- She was being offered the role of Svetlana. |

makes much more sense. vieniebebe use the word "star in" which wouldnt indicate her taking a supporting role. |

And wasn't ALW asked to do the music for it? I always wonder what would have happened to Chess if ALW wasn't off doing Cats. Then again, Chess just wouldn't be Chess without the cheesy 80's pop music. |

Webber would have killed Chess! thank god that hack didnt touch it. and the only Chess album with cheesy orchestrations wast he concept recording.the Broadway recording and subsequent concert versionbs got rid of the cheesy synthisized sound. |
