Waiting For Lefty by Cliford Odet

I recently got cast in it as Florrie. I'm in the midst of rehearsals but for the most part I really like it. So my question is.... Anyone heard of it? Been in it? Like it? Seen it?

Is it about boxing? If so, I think it was made into the Broadway musical GOLDEN BOY, circa 1963, starring Sammy Davis Jr. Odets' THE FLOWERING PEACH was musicalized as TWO BY TWO by Richard Rodgers, Peter Stone and Martin Charnin, starring Danny Kaye.

No it's about the taxi drivers union strike in 1935. It's known as the first piece of Modern American Drama......at least that's what my director told me...

It's a powerful piece that is often used in drama classes, and often anthologized, but I've never seen it done around here, so kudos to your director!

its a great play. Odets is one of America's true artistic heros.

this is such a powerful piece when all actors are truly dedicated to the script! I played Edna, and had an absolute blast. It's a show where you can learn a lot from your character. Good luck!
