Vocal Ranges

What are the female vocal ranges in Fiddler?
I'd like to know
-Golde
-Tzeitel
-Hodel
-Chava
-Yente
-Grandma Tzeitel
-Fruma Sarah

Please help, auditions are in May. What songs for auditions would you recommend for each character?

Please and Thank you. Sorry if I'm asking for a lot of info.

BTW, I'm 14 with a range of a low C (below C major) to a high C (two octaves above C major) Applause

The highest note in the entire show is an Fsharp. And they're just chorus notes. Golde and Yente can go pretty low. In the rumor, Yente's part is all below the staff. The daughters never go above an E, and that's just Hodel. Grandma Tzetiel and Fruma Sarah both dance around the second octave, but nothing over the F. The whole show isn't very range-y at all.

What type of group are you auditioning for? That can affect song choices. (and you may want to ask in the audition song thread in the Audition forum for the best opinions)

Information from this site has been known to have some flaws, so double check the information. I have found it to be a good first resource.

Golde actually doesn't go all that low unless you take everything down an octave like Norma Crane. None of the women ever sings above an E, and Hodel is the only one who ever goes even that high. Fruma and Golde both have E-flats. Everyone else tops at a D.

Sopranos and tenors do go to a G chorally a couple of times though. And the bar scene has A's all over the place, but women most likely will not be in that.

Thanks all for replying, I think I'll go with Hodel for my audition. Very Happy
