Vocal Ranges

Ok, so I go to a six week musical theatre camp every summer, and this year, they are doing Anything Goes. I know I'm a mezzo saprano but I don't know what the character vocal ranges are. Does anyone know what they are for all the female characters. I'm thinking Reno Sweeny but I need to know if I can sing her. But I would also like to know Hope's and others.

Please and Thank you!

I think Reno is more of an Alto, but a Soprano can definitely play her. None of the characters have especially high or low notes. Tone quality wise, I would say Hope is definitely a Soprano.

Ranges:

(note: this is in the 80's version. sorry this is so confusing. I've never been good at using like a7 and c3 and all that, so I just did it this way.)

Reno- G below middle C to D an octave up from right above middle C
Hope- A below middle C to E flat an octave up from above middle C
Erma- A below middle C to C an octave up from middle C

Also note that Reno is the biggest role and NEEDS to be a good belter.

Hope is smaller, but still a good role, and has a more classical voice.

Erma is the smallest of the singing female roles, but also really fun to play. You may be asked to sing in a character voice and/or belt a little altough not really required.
Astonishingg

All the singing roles, male and female, have rather small ranges. I'm sure as a mezzo you'll be fine range-wise for any of the characters. As far as voice part though, Hope is definitely more of a classical soprano-type voice (though she really doesn't go up into the soprano range much, it's just the timbre), and Reno is an alto belter. Bonnie/Erma are mezzo-y, usually belty.

Hope this helped Smile
