I can direct.
broadwaychild

yaay ur now my best friend.

not really, but you kno.

when will they be? Very Happy
lizheartsu

how do we audition?
kitkatchicka101

with the virtual auditions i did (i took a break for a while) u'd type a bit about yourself, like past shows, soprano/mezzo/alto/baritone/etc., and then u type out the words to your audition song u picked and put ur movements between astiricks (*) sorry, bad speller...but its really up to the director if s/he picks the song for u, wants u to do something from this show or not, or if the director wants u to use a microphone and sing into that instead. (hopefully not this time though, i dont have a microphone and i want to be a part of this...)

but it really depends on what the director wants. so, *ahem* what_the_heck013..?
broadwaychild

ok what_the_heck031, what do u say? Very Happy
kitkatchicka101

..*curls hair while waiting*
broadwaychild

ok should we pm him or something?
kitkatchicka101

yeah, probably. will you?
VictorVonDoom

kitkat, what is your avatar? Dear Edwina?
aktor28

If what_the_heck won't, I will. I'm quite experienced with Bye Bye Birdie. I have performed in it three different times in a span of three years. I played Randolph MacAfee in each of them as well. If you would like, I'd be pleased to direct...but I think I'd also want to audition for Randolph.
broadwaychild

yaaay thank you thank you thank you!!
aktor28

Alrighty, I don't know how long the audition process should be, especially since not to many people do these anymore. I guess they can start today, July 6th, 2005 and end August 6th, 2005. If not enough people audition by then, I can extend the date...and yes, I'll be auditioning for the role of Randolph.

Here are the parts:
Albert Peterson
Rose Alvarez
Kim MacAfee
Conrad Birdie
Harry MacAfee
Doris MacAfee
Randolph MacAfee
Mae Peterson
Ursula
Hugo Peabody
Gloria Rasputin
Mayor
Mayor's Wife
Margie
Helen
Penelope Ann
Deborah Sue
Harvey Johnson
There's a huge chorus as well that I can put in if necessary.

RULES:
1. State who you are and your age and what you look like.
2. Give information of previous parts you have played.
3. Tell us what vocal part you sing.
4. Name the song you will be auditioning with and tell what show it is from.
5. Write down movements for the song as well.

Let's begin!
zoomer15

*As she enters the room gracefully, Chelsea says* "Hello my name is Chelsea and I am 16. I have short brown hair brown eyes and I’m about 5'2".
In the past I have played Annie in AnnieJr. the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, an orphan in Annie, a tree in the Wizard of Oz, a Hot Box Dancer in Guys and Dolls, A Lady-in-Waiting in Once Upon a Mattress, Wickersham Brother in Seussical, an Indian in Peter Pan, Deborah Sue in Bye Bye Birdie, and I am currently the second reporter and ensemble in Chicago. I am a soprano.
It was not stated if you would like to know a part I would like or not. So just in case I would like Kim, Ursula, or Rosie. I will take any part though."
I will be singing Somewhere That's Green from Little Shop of Horrors
*Chelsea quietly and gracefully sings*

I know Seymour's the greatest,
But I'm dating a semi-sadist.
So I got a black eye, *points to eye*
and my arm's in a cast. *Holds up arm in sling and look at it*

Still that Seymour’s a cutie. *scrunches nose*
Well, if not, he's got inner beauty.
And I dream of a place, *Looks hopeful*
*With building emotion*--Where we can be together, at last.

*Is quiet again*--A matchbox of our own. *holds hand to heart*
A fence of real chainlink.
A grill out on the patio. *Points to imaginary patio*
Disposal in the sink. *Makes a circle with downward pointed finger as if
something is being sucked in a drain*
A washer and a dryer,
And an ironing-machine. *Acts like ironing clothes*
In a tract house that we share,
Somewhere that's green.

*Very emotional*---He rakes and trims the grass.
He loves to mow and weed. *On loves holds up index finger*
I cook like Betty Crocker,
And I look like Donna Reed. *Fluffs hair*
There's plastic on the furniture
To keep it neat and clean. *Acts like patting imaginary furniture*
In the Pine-Sol scented air, *Sprays imaginary can of pine-sol*
Somewhere that's green.

Between our frozen dinner,
and our bed-time nine-fifteen. *Points on 9 and again on 15*
We snuggle watching Lucy, *Hugs self*
On a big, enormous, twelve-inch screen. *On each word uses finger to
trace a TV screen*

*Quiet again*---Oh, his December bride,
He's father, he knows best.
The kids play Howdy-Doody,
As the Sun sets in the West. *Circles arm like the sun is setting*
A picture out of Better Homes
And Gardens magazine.
*Drawn out*--Far from Skid Row,
I dream we'll go...
Somewhere that's Green. *Looks into the distance*

*Chelsea smiles and thanks the judges and leaves the room.*
kitkatchicka101

its a picture from my performance of godspell. i'm the one on the far right with the braids and spaced-out look.
kitkatchicka101

*enters room and smiles* Hello, my name is Kat and I am 14. I have below the shoulder straight brown hair, brown eyes, and I am five-foot-four. I am a soprano, and I would be willing to take any part, but I am especially interested in Rosie, Kim, Ursula, or Gloria. I have been Kate in "Annie," Maude in "The Music Man," Glow Toy in "Toy Camp," "Beautiful City" soloist in Godspell, Miss Bailout in "Stop Sending in the Clowns," and Yussel in "Fiddler on the Roof." I have also been in the chorus of many shows, including "Oliver," "Bye Bye Birdie," "Annie Get Your Gun," and "The Wiz." I will be singing "Till There was You" from "The Music Man."

*clasps hands in front of her and looks down. when time to sing, looks up and smiles shyly*
There were bells on the hill *gestures toward the right with right arm*
but I never heard them ringing
No, I never heard them at all *shakes head 'no'*
Till there was you. *gestures with right arm to the front*
There were birds in the sky *raises arm above head*
but I never saw them at all *looks down slowly/sadly*
*looks up, like an afterthought* till there was you.
*crosses to left*
*faces stage left in a sad manner* And there was music
and there were wonderful roses
*turns to the front* they tell me.
in sweet fragrant meadows *gestures down*
of dawn and dew.
*in an embarrassed and shy manner*
There was love all around *gestures to heart*
but I never heard it singing *motions to ear*
No, I never heard it at all
Till there was you.
And there was music
and there were wonderful roses *motions to the floor*
they tell me
in sweet fragrant meadows
of dawn and dew. *extends palm to the ceiling, and closes hand on 'dew'*
*suddenly very brazen and bold, looks upward (but still facing audience) confidently*There was love all around
but I never heard it singing
No, I never heard it at all
Till there was you. *motions outward*

*smiles*
Thank you very much. *leaves the room*

**walks in smiling, confident** hello, my name is broadwaychild, and i will be auditioning for Kim or Ursula. i have straight medium light brown hair with blonde streaks, brown eyes, 5'5, and thin(with some curve). my age range is 14-17. i am a mezzo-soprano, i am very comfortable with high notes, but i am very strong on low notes. i am a strong dancer. just a few some previous roles I have been are Ida(Honk!), the Baker's Wife(Into the Woods Jr.), Miss Hannigan(Annie Jr.), Snoopy(YAGMCB), Penelope Peabody(Beauty and the Beast-non-musical) and Snoopy(Snoopy!). i am currently playing Miss Sherman in a teenage production of "Fame: the Musical." i am going to be singing "Much More" from The Fantasticks. (hands music to piano player)

(takes a deep breath and sings beautifully and confidently)
**smiles and has a dreamy look **
I'd like to swim in a clear blue stream
Where the water is icy cold.
Then go to town
In a golden gown,
And have my fortune told.
Just once,
Just once,
Just once before I'm old.

I'd like to be not evil,
But a little worldly wise.
To be the kind of girl designed
To be kissed upon the eyes. **touches eyes lightly**

I'd like to dance till two o'clock
Or sometimes dance till dawn,
Or if the band could stand it,
Just go on and on and on
Just once, **hands in a gentle fist, to heart**
Just once,
Before the chance is gone!
I'd like to waste a week or two **hands down to side**
And never do a chore.
To wear my hair unfastened
So it billows to the floor. **flips hair softly**

To do the things I've dreamed about
But never done before!
Perhaps I'm bad, or wild, or mad, **wild smirk**
With lots of grief in store,
But I want much more than keeping house!
Much more!
Much more!
Much more! **smiles**

Thank you! **walks out smiling cheerfully**
kitkatchicka101

pinkstiletto510

question- can I post my headshot instead of going through the whole 'I look like yadayada' ?
pinkstiletto510

*walks in with a excited smile* Hi there! I'm Ksenia, here is my headshot http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/pinkstiletto510/Headshots/Picture011.jpg
As you can seen, I have medium length dark brown hair, fair complexion, hazel eyes, 5'4" and thin build. I've been in Bye Bye Birdie one other time, playing 'Margie' the teen girl and also being in the chorus. I havent done any other musicals but I've taken private voice lessons for almost 4 years, placed 3rd in State competition this year for soprano and was involved in 3 choirs and a drama class (all at the same time)I'm hoping you'll consider me for the role of Kim*smile and slight pause* But I guess you want to hear me sing now right? *giggle* Today I'll be singing 'Vanilla Ice Cream' from She Loves Me

*gazes off a little above the directors head, piano starts*
I am so sorry about last night
*looks apologetic, uses hands to explain while singing*
it was a nightmare in everyway
*continues*
but together, you and I, will laugh at last night someday
*gaze turns a bit more happy and a smile creeps in on 'someday'*
ice cream, he brought me ice cream, vanilla ice cream...imagine that!!
*excitedly, holds hands out in excitment for 'imagine that!" *
ice cream, and for the first time we were together without a spat!
*continues*
friendly, he was so friendly, that isnt like him! I'm simply stunned
*holds hands behind back for 'friendly, he was soo...'*
will wonders never cease! will wonders never cease, it's been the most peculiar day!
*switches directions on each 'will wonders' with hands to side in a questioning form*
will wonders never cease! will wonders never cease--oh!! where was I?!
*2nd cease is spoken in a high pitched like voice*
iamsosorryaboutlastnightitwasanightmareineverywaybutogetheryouandiwilllaughatlastnightsomeday!
*presto, patter like... at the end looks up with a questioned look then continues*
i sat there waiting in that cafe...and never guessing that you were...FAT!! *gasp*
*blurts out fat, then contains herself*
that you were...near(?)
*questioningly, and sheepish*
you were outside looking...BALD!! oh my!
*again, blurting out bald followed by an 'oops' look*
dear friend- I am so sorry about last night...
*beginging spoken, then drifts off into happy dreamy excited look*
last night, I was so nasty...well he deserved it..but even soooo!
*starts off shy then goes into mega power woman*
that george is not like this george this is a new george that I dont know!
*points finger a different direction on each 'george' looking slightly confused*
somehow! it all reminds me of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde!
*very noble and PI like*
well right before my eyes! a man that I dispise has turned into a man I like!!
*very excited*
it's almost like a DREAM! and strange as it may seem...he came to offer meeeeee
*dream is spoken, holds out arms in front on 'he came' then gives self a hug on 'me'*
va-ni-ii-la-a
*very broken and a slight move of the head on each break*
i---IIIIIIIce....cream!!!!!!!!!
*holds arms up in a TADA! pose for the high B on ice and continues to hold for cream until pianos ends then ends with a slight squeel/giggle*

thank you so much ! *big smile, very content.... leaves confidently*
dramaqueen220222

I'd like to audition, please, if it isn't too late
dramaqueen220222

*walks up to the very front and center of the stage, gives a nice smile*
Hi, my name is Alex, and I really have no particular preferences as to who I'm casted as, other then wanting a good role. I'm 5'6, with long curly honey brown hair and blue eyes, fair skin and a nice figure.
I'm fairly experienced with theatre, I've been acting since I was four in both musicals and straight plays. I've taken voice lessons for two years, and acting lessons for three. Recently my favorite roles have been Glinda in The Wizard of Oz, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof and Danny in Grease. I've also had smaller roles in Les Miserables, Godspell and Oklahoma.
I can sing anywhere from low alto to a very high soprano, and I've played a variety of both comedic and dramatic roles.
For my audition song, I'm choosing to sing "Bless The Lord" from Godspell.

*music starts, I step from side to side, swaying my hips gently to the beat*
Oh bless the Lord my soul!
His praise to thee proclaim!
And all that is within me join,
To bless His holy name!
*gives a slightly seductive and confident smile, tilts head back and sings*
Oh yeah!

Oh bless the Lord my soul!
His mercies bear in mind!
Forget not all His benefits,
The Lord, to thee, is kind.

*sings with more power*
He will not always chide
He will with patience wait
His wrath is ever slow to *builds voice on every note* riiiiise

*belts, smiling confidently*
And ready to abate
And ready to abate
*relaxes, gives a small turn*
Oh yeah!

*lets loose, belting and singing in an almost pop-like style*
He pardons all thy sins- all thy sins!
Prolongs thy feeble breath
He healeths thine infirmities
And ransoms thee from death
He clothes thee with his love
Upholds thee with his truth
And like an eagle he renews
The vigor of thy youth

*music builds, bounces hips a little faster*
Then bless His holy name
Whose grace hath made thee whole
Whose love and kindness crowns
Thy *sings every note with more power then the last* daaayyys

Ohhh bless the lord
Bless the lord my soul
Oh bless the lord my soul! Bless the lord my soul
Oh bless the lord my soul!
Bless the lord my soul
Oh bless the lord my soul!
Bless the lord, bless the lord
*stops dancing, raising arms on the high note*
My sooouuul!
*tilts head back*
Bless the lord my soul, *kicks a leg up in the air, sinks down into a half-split* ooh!

*gets up, blushing a little, but still smiling*

Thank you!
musicallover09

broadwaychild

i hate to be a bug, but when will the casting be done?
broadwaychild

kitkatchicka101

well, we didnt get too many people..
aktor28

Yeah, sorry, but only about five people auditioned. Cant' cast a show this big with only those few people.
BroadwayBud

I'll audition!!!!! I have been looking for a virtual audition on here. I'm very excited about Bye Bye Birdie! I just found out today that my highschool is doing this musical this year! Laughing
sweeteponine

Sorry, I get the audition part but how are you going to do a show?? Confused
pinkstiletto510

sweeteponine wrote:

I've also wondered that
nat915

I hope it's not too late!

*walks in confidently and gracefully* Hello, my name is Natalie and I'm 18, though I can look older or younger as needed. I'm 5'8 and with a thin build. I have medium length dark brown hair and big dark brown eyes. Here's my headshot:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a143/nat915/headshot1111.jpg

My past experience includes Marian in The Music Man, Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music, Louise in Nuncrackers, and Vivian in Oklahoma, among many minor and chorus roles. My range is a high mezzo, though I have a very strong lower range as well. I've had both vocal and dance training, and have had much experience in theatre.

Today I will be singing Many A New Day from Oklahoma.

Why should a woman who is healthy and strong, *hands on hips*
Blubber like a baby if her man goes away?
A-weepin' and a-wailin' how he done her wrong,
That's one thing you'll never hear me say! *tosses hands*
Never gonna' think that the man I lose is the only man among men.
I'll snap my fingers to show I don't care; *snaps*
I'll buy me a brand new dress to wear; *smoothes out dress*
I'll scrub my neck and I'll brush my hair, *plays with hair*
And start all over again. *nods*
Many a new face will please my eye,
Many a new love will find me; *hugs self*
Never've I once looked back to sigh over the romance behind me; *shakes head*
Many a new day will dawn before I do!
Many a light lad may kiss and fly,
A kiss gone by is bygone.
Never've I asked an August sky, "Where has last July gone?" *hands out*
Never've I wandered through the rye, wondering where has some guy gone;
Many a new day will dawn!
Many a red sun will set!
Many a blue moon will shine before I do!

Thank you.
bandcampgirl183

I missed the auditions!! I just discovered this whole website a few hours ago.... Can I be an understudy, and take over if someone gets sick, or has a previous engagement when we need them?? I am known for knowing the entire play before most people know their own lines. I try not to correct them, though Smile I am right at 5 ft. tall, shoulderlength brown hair, light skin, blue eyes, glasses... not as thin as I was the last time I was in this, but far from fat. (I was 14 then, and am 22 now...) I was an assistant director/stage manager for Fiddler On The Roof, I was The Spelling Bee in The Phantom Tollbooth, I was the Leading Player in Pippin (can't you just SEE the resemblence to Ben Vereen??), I was Deborah Sue and Penelope Anne in Bye, Bye, Birdie (yes, both... I was almost Ursula, and the director told someone she was casting me as Ursula, but I don't know what happened)... I had a lead in Crazy For You, though for the life of me I can't remember the woman's name... it wasn't the dance coordinator, and it wasn't Polly. I took voice lessons for a year, but singing is not my strong point... I do much better in group songs than solos. I was cast as a Snob in A Spinning Tale, but had to leave camp due to illness... I was The White Rabbit in Alice in Americaland. I did a traveling theatre program one summer. I got 2nd in Creative Storytelling at a speech team tournament.

Should I audition? I am doing "It's time to start living," from Pippin. This is Pippin's Grandmother giving Pippin advice.

When you *shakes finger at Pippin the way old people do* are as old as I *points to self with some same finger*, my dear.... *afterthought* and I hope that you never are!! *suggesting being old is not the best thing to be*.... You will woefully wonder WHY *stressing why*, my dear... *afterthought* through your cataracs, and catar!!
You could squander away *gestures right* or sequester *gestures left*... the drop of a precious year *emphasize precious, and how years ARE precious*... but when your best days are yester *starting to pick up the fun*, the rest 'er twice as dear!
What good is a field *gestures down* on a fine summer night *gestures to sky... emphasises that this is a good thing*, *change tone to unpleasant, bitter* if you sit all alone with the WEEDS.
*lightly*Or a succulent pear, if with each juicy bite....you spit out your teeth with the seeds? *sounds like she's spitting things out as she sings*
Before it's too late *waving finger again-- this is advice*, stop trying to wait... for fortune and fate you're secure of. *humor* For there's one thing to be sure of, Mate, *smile* there's... nothign to be sure of!

*walks among the players who are scattered around the stage, waving her arms in a half dance, half balancing motion* Ohhh... It's time to start living! *talks directly to one player* Time to take a little from this world we're given.. *to audience* time to take TIME... *inevitable* cuz spring will turn to fall....in just no time at all. *shrug like it's a reality.*

*honest, heartfelt.. gestures to self on I* I never wondered if I was *raise hands to indicate backing away* afraid... when there was a *strong and bold* challenge to take! And I never thought about how much I weighed *gesture to body*... when there was still one *one finger* piece of *smile broadly* cake. *honest* Now, maybe it's meant... the hours I've spent... feeling *breaks something with her hands, as if she were snappinga stick in half* broken and bent *distorts shape* and *hands open* unwell... *cheers up, smiles* but there's still no cure so heaven sent... as the chance to raise some hell!!

OK I think that gives you an idea... this is a long song.

~rachel~

This is exhausting!

happyguava

Oooooh I want to be Kim! Already cast, dammit! Okay no particular preferences, just not Nacy because I've played her. Not that she does anything.

Hullo, my name's Shelley. I'm not really a guava, I'm quite human *cough*. I'm 168cm, medium build, long wavy/curly brown hair, brown eyes. I've been Starkey in Peter Pan, Bert Healy/Star-to-be in Annie (don't ask), Nancy in Bye Bye Birdie, principal ensemble member in Guys and Dolls and Fame, and I've just been cast as Maisie in the Boy Friend. Been in the top vocal group at school since year 7, voice lessons for 4 years, dance lessons for 10 years. I'm a coloratura soprano, but I can sing mezzo and alto stuff too.

*sits down on chair, legs crossed, reading a book*
It says here:
"The average unmarried female
*looks up* basically insecure,
Due to some long frustration may react
*changes legs over*
With psychosomatic symptoms
*looks up again*
difficult to endure, *turns page*
Affecting the upper respiratory tract *looks up, pondering*

You can give her a shot for whatever she's got, but it just won't work
*walks back to centre* If she's tired of getting the fish eye from the hotel clerk
A person can develop a *sits down* cold! *picks up book*

It says here:

Shows a neurotic tendency, see note

Chronic organic syndromes, toxic or hypertense

A person, *hand on chest* can develop a cough!
*walks to left of people* You can feed her all day with the vitamin A and the bromofizz
*stops* But the medicine never gets anywhere near where the *hand on forehead* trouble is.
If she's getting a kind of a name for herself, and the name ain't "his"
A person, can develop a cough!! *gets angry*

And *walks back to centre, throws book to ground* furthermore just from stalling and stalling and stalling the wedding trip,
A person, can develop la grippe
When *long note* they get on the train for Niagra
*hands clasped* and she can hear church bells chime
The compartment is air-conditioned, and the mood *long note* sublime
*dramatic pause*
Then they *back to angry* get off at Saratoga, for the fourteenth time
A person can develop La Grippe

Ah! La Grippe
La post nasal drip,
With the wheezes *hand gesture* and the sneezes
And a sinus that's really a pip! *pause*

From a lack of community property, and a feeling she's getting too old
A person can develop a *arms up* bad, bad
Cold *glissando*

Yeah, thanks for that, let me know...

bell

why isnt nancy on the cast list?
i'm_back

Okay, I'm gonna audition. I hope its not to late. It better not be.

*walks into room frowning and looking sad* Hi. I hate my life. My name is i'm_back. I want to go play in traffic. I'm 160 years old. I have chronic pneumonia, i'm going to die soon so you better give me the part i want. I am very tall (over 7 feet), I used to play basketball, but then my legs fell off. I am pasty white. I am super fat. I have to wear diapers. I want to play Conrad Birdie. I have played numerous roles including Man 1 in FAT! the musical. I will be singing Tomorrow from Annie.

The Sun'll come out Tomorrow!
(I forgot the words)

I am done now. Thank You.
Mr_X

I guess I'll try this.

1. State who you are and your age and what you look like.
2. Give information of previous parts you have played.
3. Tell us what vocal part you sing.
4. Name the song you will be auditioning with and tell what show it is from.
5. Write down movements for the song as well.
*slips into the room smiling*
"Hi, I'm Michael Bloom, but you can call me Mike. I'm 16 years old, but I'm able to play 20 year olds. I have dark blonde/brownish hair that is slicked black. I have a pretty big nose, green eyes with hazel specks, a long face, fairly long neck, slim body, big feet, around 5'9". My previous roles in high school inclue Ali Hakim in Oklahoma!, Ed Carmichael in You Can't Take it With You, Joly in Les Miserables: School Edition, and Dr. William Chumley in Harvey. I can sing tenor or baritone. I will be singing "Tonight At Eight" from the musical She Loves Me

*as music starts, looks around nervously and talks to the audience*
I'm nervous and upset
Because this girl I've never met
I get to meet tonight at eight
*he goes off onto a tangent and looks off to the side, smiling*
I'm taking her to dinner at a charming old cafe
*his head snaps back to the audience*
But who can eat tonight at eight.
It's early in the morning
And our date is not till eight o'clock tonight
And yet already I can see
*he clutches his stomach in anxiety*
What a nightmare this whole day will be
*he puts one hand on his head*
I haven't slept a wink
I only think of our approaching "tete-a-tete"
Tonight at eight
I feel a combination of depression
And elation what a state
To wait till eight.
*he forms one hand into a fist, as if he's convincing himself*
Two more minutes
Three more seconds
Ten more hours to go
*he then gets nervous again*
In spite of all I've written
She may not be very smitten
*during this next part, his eyes get wider and he turns white*
And my hopes, perhaps
May all collapse
Kaput! Tonight at eight!
*he then goes off on another tangent and takes a few steps to the right*
I wish I knew exactly how I'll act
Or what will happen when
We dine tonight at eight.
I know I'll drop the silverware
*he uses his two hands to show water and wine*
But will I spill the water or the wine
Tonight at eight
*he gets a dreamy look at his eyes*
Tonight I'll walk right up
And sit right down besides the smartest girl in town
And then it's anybody's guess
*he gets nervous once again*
More and more I'm breathing less and less
*he takes a few breaths, stumbles, then turns to the audience*
In my imagination
I can hear our conversation
Taking shape tonight at eight
I'll sit there saying absolutely nothing
Or I'll jabber like an ape
Tonight at eight
*he tries to convince himself again*
Two more minutes
Three more seconds
Ten more hours to
*during this next part, he starts off happy, but slowly becomes paranoid again*
I know when this is done
If something's ended or begun
And if it goes alright
Who knows I might
Propose, tonight at eight!
*on the final beat, he clutches his head and his stomach and holds the pose. he eventually gets his music and walks to the door*

"Thank you."
